Just a heads up about the WJC Tournament. Finlands team won the Canadian team 3-2. But the interesting part is that Finland used their number three goalie and didn't even have Aleksander Barkov yet. And this was against a team which has Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Well Malcolm Subban is practically our 3rd string goalie and was bad during training camp and everyone was surprised he didn't get cut. Haven't watched the game but I read Canada was undisciplined and there were lots of 5-3's in the game. Well, if statistics can help, I have them. Penalties, goals, assists, +/-, all of em. Right here.

Well, if the NHL actually knew how the concept of negotiating went, this would've probably been done months ago.
How it should've gone:
Side A: Offers one thing very favorable to their side.
Side B: Makes counter-offer very favorable to their side.
Both sides get together and figure out a compromise that makes everyone happy even if they don't get everything they want.
How the current negotiations have gone:
NHL: Makes offer very favorable to the owners.
NHLPA: Makes counter-offer very favorable to the players.
NHL: We out. *drops mic, leaves*

As an aside, is anybody else watching the WJC? What do you think of the boys (USA) so far? To me, after two games, our top players seem to be Jake Trouba, John Gibson, Alex Galchenyuk, and Shane Gothisbere. Grimaldi's been ok, as has Miller, Jones, and Biggs.
So anyways, yeah, what do you think? Is anybody staying up for the USA/Canada game this morning?

I'll try. If I'm at my place than yeah most likely. If I'm at my friends who is in deep depression and babysitting not to do anything stupid chances are I won't be able too. It's like that King of the Hill episode but not as bad and nowhere near as funny.

Alex Galchenyuk makes up for our lousy season last year - BIG TIME.
The guy is doing so well in Sarnia that when the season begins (I'll believe it when I see it) they're going to call him up and he'll skip the AHL entirely. Another pick of ours, Collberg, is doing pretty good as well. Galchenyuk though..he has the potential to be something great. Something we haven't had for a long time.

Should have seen his goal against Germany a few days ago in the WJC. Nasty top right corner goal. Didn't look as impressive against Russia though, but I think that may have been due to the fact the it looked like he was trying to impress more than just play his style of game.

He may have been nervous but he did still get an assist in the game so I'm still happy with the guy. His stats in Sarnia have been pretty damn impressive so far - 61 points in 33 games and +16 rating. He's like the anti-Gomez.
He's still young but if he's playing like that now and he can replicate that in the NHL, he will be one popular guy here.
Because I'm such a dork, here's an old video of the guy:
Here's the beaut goal:
Edit: Of course it'd be nice to actually have a season to begin so we could actually see the guy up here. Friggin' NHL.

Yeah, Gali looks like a keeper man.
Hey, since I'm a nice guy and there's no NHL around, here's a nostalgic blast from the past for you Darth:

Holy shit, Finlands team are making things far too exciting for us. A couple of defensive mistakes and Switzerland makes them pay. Good thing that Markus Granlund, Teuvo Teräväinen and Joonas Korpisalo played so well. 5-4 in the shootouts.
Check out the tackle on Ville Pokka, if that wasn't dirty, then I don't know what is.

Yeah, the Fins are looking really good this year. When then US gets eliminated, I'll be rooting for them.

Gord Miller looks exactly the same but Bob McKenzie looks like a kid compared to how he looks now. The standing ovation the Rocket got still gives me goosebumps. The Forum has been turned into the Pepsi Forum and it's a movie theater/mall type of environment now. Driving past the place is really depressing. They should have turned it into some kind of hockey shrine/museum. The Bell Centre didn't get its "soul" until Saku's return game (return from Cancer). I bet this one still gives you chills:

That's how I felt when the Bruins won the Cup...even though they did deserve it.
