What's the "slightly more" info? It says exactly what Steveweiser posted, only using more words. His post says it's just talk but the quote straight from F4WOnline makes it sounds more like a done deal (or close to one) that AJPW's going to become a developmental territory for WWE which is thus slightly more than simply "just talk". The "nothing major", from how I interpreted it, means you're not going to start seeing a bunch of AJPW talent on WWE TV or co-promoted shows or whatever else like the WCW/NJPW deal from the '90s.

It wasn't a direct quote from F4W (and neither was what Steveweiser posted). It's just someone else crediting info to them and putting it into their own words. I would actually tend to believe what Steveweiser posted as he credited it to Observer Radio, so, if accurate, it's something Meltzer actually said out loud rather than in print.

The way people keep talking about NOAH being 'on it's death bed since' 2007/2008/2009 reminds me of Woody in Cheers with 'not since the incident'. What happened to NOAH to put it at death's door? Besides the supposed Yakuza links, which I read about already...

I seriously doubt anything will happen with it. I remember a similar deal was talked about in 2006/2007 with I think NJPW and nothing came of it. Also, AJPW sure would be a weird choice for WWE to work with. NJPW and NOAH are both way better promotions currently than AJPW. NOAH is on death's door at the moment. Been like that since 2007. AJPW has been making a rally of late, probably is the no.2 promotion in Japan at the moment, with Dragon Gate third. You said it right there though. Since 2007. NOAH ain't dead 'till its dead.

I just looked at AJPW's roster page. I didn't know they were in such dire straits until looking at that page and noticing how small it is: NXT alone has about the same size roster than AJPW does.

Didn't Meltzer say back when this WWE tour happened that several promoters wanted to meet with Johnny, unaware of the fact that he no longer works in talent relations and is just an agent now?

AJPW has tried to create new stars and will pull out interesting angles that grab people's attention. NOAH has been the same for years now. Nothing really changes.

The WWE fans of today would have to be heavily educated about The Great Muta and what he meant, although they have his WCW matches, so they could just run those. Or they could just bring him in as Muta and he'll get over instantly like gangbusters. This is The Great Muta we're talking about, one of the absolute best to ever do it. If anyone can get every demographic to care about what he does instantly, it's Muta.

He hasn't been in All Japan for ages, he moved back to New Brunswick. AJ is ahead of NOAH. All Japan has it's up and downs but people pay attention when they make noise. NOAH is just NOAH. As much as I'd like this to happen, this rumor probably comes from Nash working All Japan since he's under a WWE Legends deal. A New Japan deal would make more sense. Their owner (Bushi Road) just sponsored WWE shows in Japan, their roster is more suited for WWE and they're the biggest promotion. Although, they sort of seem like they want to challenge WWE and gain popularity outside of Japan. I saw Dupree in Kent a few months ago, he did a job for a local wrestler. New Japan are indeed attempting to be a competitor rather than work with WWE - they've just secured a deal for English language programming. One of my friends is doing the commentary for it. Oh man. I would watch the crap outta that!
