Steve Wacker continues to troll Spidey fans over at CBR: Kiel Phegley: Steve, the thing that I was struck by reading "Amazing Spider-Man" #699 is that even as we've had this big twist that takes Peter Parker's mind out of Spider-Man's body, the title is still very much Peter Parker's story. The action remains with his character wherever he is. Is that something that will definitively change about Spider-Man by the end of #700? Steve Wacker: Yeah. That'll change dramatically just because of necessity of story. But I think for years to come the shadow of Peter Parker is going to be draped over the book. There's nothing you can do about that. But new cast members will come in. Life goes on. Peter Parker fans will sort of fade away over the months and years, and you'll have a bunch of people who only know the new cast. It's probably similar to what happened with Ben Reilly back in the dayIs it wrong that I laughed?

Also, I don't buy May Nd Ock having had sex for as short term as that 'relationship' was.
Good grief I'm glad I abandoned ship after OMD.

And now, DC has fired Gail Simone off of BATGIRL - she confirmed it late this morning on her Twitter page.

y'know, Steve Wacker's a smart guy. you'd think he'd know better than to compare the new Spider-man book to a period that's reviled by pretty much everyone.

Gail Simone was pretty much the only person who could get people onboard with Babs regressing back into Batgirl. they'll probably hand it over to someone who doesn't give half the s***s she did and just parrots whatever 70s nostalgia crap Didio wants. that company's going to be in better hands whenever he leaves. the new 52's had some great stuff but also some of the most blatant and stupid executive meddling I've ever seen. I guess that makes her a free agent right now. if Marvel's smart they'll poach her ASAP.

Like I could see her getting down with Nathan Lubensky or even Willie Lumpkin ( as gross as those would also be), given that both those relationships lasted several months if not a coupla years.. wasn't the Ock thing like MAYBE three issues?

That's what I'm getting out of it: The particularly odd timing and the whole future endeavoring via email. It's all too lowballed.

Agreed, Batgirl s so far has been "OK", It's not like Catwoman where it went from Winnick to Nocenti. Honestly Simone has been Disappointing in the New52, Both Batgirl & Firestorm were "OK" (The latter got better when Jurgens took over) I'd like to see Simone write Catwoman......Just get rid of Nocenti PLEASE!!!!!

I keep getting the feeling that Gail Simone wasn't really sold on the Babs-as-Batgirl idea to begin with and was just humouring DC when they asked her to write it.

Im thinking she was pissed at them for giving away Birds of Prey to someone else and cancelling S6 (alright, that might just be me) as well. Marvel should hire her and set her to work on the possible Heroes for Hire book, even if she teams up with Bendis on it for a bit. They are apparently BFFs anyway, so it kinda makes sense.

www.newsarama.com/comics/dc-comics-march-2013-solicitations.htmlDC's solicits for March are in. a classic DC character makes his return in the new 52 and it's....... Captain Carrot (sorry K'Rot), now in 90s antihero/Bucky O'Hare form. on the plus side, Zealot is joining Stormwatch (should be cool, they already have a Batman and a Superman equivalent and now they have a Wonder Woman equivalent too) and on the frankly hilarious side Hawkman has yet another new writer. of course since I buy everything in trade the only book I'll be buying is the next Aquaman hardcover.

Anybody else get the free Marvel NOW! calendar? It's nothing special, but I think it's cool to get a comic book calendar for free.

I'm going to assume that the art in the calendar is just NOW! art that we've already seen.
