Dishonored - a game worth buying? Yes. It is a really good game, imo. Currently in my Top 5 favorites for the year.

Is the first person not a bit jarring for the assassinations and such?
I'm someone who played Skyrim in third person.
That's what's putting me off picking it up......
How long is it? Are there side quests and such?

Is the first person not a bit jarring for the assassinations and such? I'm someone who played Skyrim in third person. That's what's putting me off picking it up...... How long is it? Are there side quests and such? With the assassinations, no not really. It was a bit jarring at first because this game has more head bobbing than the usual first person game, but I got use to it after a bit(plus you can adjust the head bob level in the settings). Length wise it varies on how many side quests/item hunting you do. If you just run through the game, it'll take you about 6 hours to beat, but doing the side quests which earn you things like runes needed to upgrade your powers and granting you extra alternate paths to take, it'll extend the life of the game to 10-12 hours. Keep note that this game begs to be replayed. Because you are granted so many choices on how to tackle to missions, it is worth going back at least one other time, not to mention the game changes depending on how many people you kill/how many times enemies are alerted. Those two things combine into a stat called Chaos. High Chaos means levels will have more enemies, and later in the game there are more plague rats(who literally attack everything that isn't a Weeper(those infected with the plague, basically zombies, but not dead/undead)) and Weepers. Plus the final mission of the game is a gauntlet of enemies if you have high Chaos. Low Chaos means fewer enemies, rats, and Weepers, and the final mission becomes a cakewalk. Also keep in mind all enemies can be dealt with in both a lethal and non-lethal way. Let's just say that usually the non-lethal way isn't necessarily the "nicer" option to go with.

Might pick that up on the cheap then. Sounds very much like my sort of game.
A cross between Infamous and Skyrim

I'm thinking this is definitely for me.
I managed to luck out in that my mum bought me the Smallville 1-10 box set for Christmas, and the place we got it from sent two, but charged for one.
Kinda dishonest of me, and I really should send it back, but instead, I'm thinking to trade it in at a place that takes dvds/blus/games and then buy a game and a couple of blu rays and then they can be extra Christmas presents.
My choices, game wise, was between this and Resident Evil 6, but seeing the reviews for RE6 and playing the demo and only really likely one part of it (two at a stretch), with both the reviews for Dishonoured (Dishonored, it feels really off spelling that the American way) and your recommendation, I'm thinking it's the game for me.

Ok, just don't kill me if you don't like it. One last tip I'll give you, one of the things you'll get in the game is a heart(like as in a human heart, but it has clockwork mechanisms and stuff in it, it looks freaky) that points out runes and bone charms(bone charms also upgrade you character, but in different, slight ways, like there are bone charms that slightly increase the amount of health you gain from healing potions, mana from mana potions, and health from eating food, for example), and it has an alternate use, when you point it at something or someone and activate it, it'll tell you secrets of whatever it is you are pointing at. It is really cool, and using it kind of made me feel bad about shanking some of the NPCs that I did.

That sounds like the sort of thing that I will really love, and end up saving and going back if I've killed someone that makes me feel like a dick for doing so.
Granted, if I do hate it, this is totally your fault!
I need some other advice as well, do I want to buy AssCreed 3, despite the fact that I have ZERO interest in the historic period, or do I want to buy WWE13, with the knowledge that I need the DLC because I want to play as Drew?
When I say buy, I really mean ask my grandparents for XMas.

When I say buy, I really mean ask my grandparents for XMas. WWE. I haven't even played WWE 13, but WWE 13. Do not get Ass Creed 3, or even ask for it right now. If you ask for it, tell them to get it cheap. Ass Creed 3 does not deserve full price paid. I'm half tempted to sell it back to GameStop when I finish it, because I'll get $30 for it and will probably swing it for the better looking stealth game, Hitman. They went backwards in this game. They went back to f***ing AC1 with this game! There is no stealth in this game. The frontier is too open spaced to stealth in, and in the towns you are f***ed stealth wise because there are no NPC you can buy the service of to distract guards like you could in the Ezio games. The game glitches all over the place, and while I'm not insanely far in the game right now, oh man if you thought AC1 was a repetitive game, AC3 takes the cake. Nearly all of my missions so far have involved following or leading an NPC somewhere. The controls are kind of a mess, the user interface is a f***ing joke. At this point I'm not sure which game is worse between it and AC1, but it is certainly in the bottom tier of the series in terms of quality. That being sad, the multiplayer is probably the best in the series. That might be the only reason I even keep the game, because it sure as shit isn't for the story. Plus I hear from those who have beaten the game already that the ending is god awful and makes Mass Effect 3's pre-extended ending look like Oscar worthy material.

I actually liked AC1......
It was more for the historical period, I have several degrees in history, specifically that time period and so it was awesome to see it in 3D and such.
Still, 13 it is!
I'll pick up AC3 myself when it drops in price to the bargain bin, which is essentially when I always planned to do anyway because of the historical setting being so off putting to me.

I actually never played a Hitman game, but the games do look really fun, and after AC3, I'll need a better looking stealth game to wash the taste out. I guess I could just play Dishonored again and do a stealth run through and instead put that $30 towards PSASBR.

Hitman man games are fun but always wonky as hell with awful aiming mechanics. The most recent one was kind of awful too. But they have always been made by IO Interactive a team with great ideas and serviceable execution, sans Kane and Lynch.

Also, I stealth just fine in Boston in AC3. And there are groups you can pay off. They just aren't on the map now.

Hitman man games are fun but always wonky as hell with awful aiming mechanics. From what I've seen on YouTube, none of that seems to be a problem.
