{Spoiler}I don't get the timeline of it all.. How can you kill off M? For example, she was in Goldeneye, Die Another day etc with Moneypenny.. But Moneypenny was only revealed at the end of this film? After M died? I'm confused.

I'm confused. {Spoiler}Casino Royale was the reboot of the Bond series and it's set in a different universe from the Dr. No-Die Another Day films. Everything from Casino Royale onwards is the new timeline so this is the first appearance of Moneypenny and Q. They kept Judi Dench as M because she was so good at the role and they felt that if at least one face was kept from the original timeline then audiences would be more willing to accept the rebooted series.

It was an amazing movie and well worth the wait. The cinematography is outstanding and if it doesn't get nominated at the Oscars, it'll be a damn shame.

I'm just astonished it took them THIS long to get an Oscar caliber performance out of Dench. As great as an actress as she is, I've never liked her "M" aside from her performance in TWINE. It was a great dynamic initially with M being a female calling Bond out on his sexism and outdated touch with the world but I felt the character was always stuck in a bad movie with a bad script (see: TND, DAD and Quantum).
I will give Judi credit, in spite of it being the same virtual character, she did play the part differently than how she did in the Brosnan series. A lot more of a serious take to her character this time around than in the Brosnan films.
