Depending on if the movie falls below the Avengers mark or surpasses it, which one will make for a more entertaining tweet from the Batman twitter account?

Trick question, it doesn't matter because he would already put Iron Man in intensive care for saying The Avengers was the higher grossing movie. Honestly though, he's already put out some awesome tweets about the movie. About how he bought a AMC theater...CHAIN for TDKR. Amazing.

What I have trouble understanding is how how certain people can say these Batman films have been too serious and not any fun/excitement? So in Batman Begins watching Bruce on his first night out as Batman wasn't exciting, suspenseful, and fun? Him taking out a bunch of ninjas wasn't exciting enough? How about in the sequel watching the amazing chase sequence between him and the Joker, the interrogation scene, Batman taking out a bunch of Swat officers, and the hospital sequence? These films have had a lot of over the top, exciting, and suspenseful moments that could've been ripped from the comics as well. I honestly think a lot of people just want the extremely over the top, slow motion/bullet time, and fancy martial arts action when it comes to Batman. To me it is not the fact that Nolans Batman movies are overly serious etc it is just that Burton is a much more visual director , and to me thats really the big difference when comparing my favourite (the 89 and returns) Batman films to Nolans series. Nolans are great movies but I do not feel drawn in like I did to Burtons. I always bring it up but look at scene Decent into Mystery from batman 89 , there just is not anything like that in Nolans movies that just lets you take in everything that is Batman and just let the scene speak for its self IMO of course.

This is true. If nothing else, Burton as well as to a degree Schumaucher gets making Gotham feel like a real, breathing place so, so much more than Nolan does.

Nolan's Gotham looks and feels like it actually exists due to them filming in real cities. Burton's feels fake based on the number of large man-made movie sets they used, and the less said about Schumaucher's, with the gigantic statues holding up buildings and over use of neon lights, the better

Nolan's city was real, but you don't look at it and think "Gotham City". Rather, It's Seattle or Canada, etc.

The Burton / Schumaucher Gotham feels like a unique, special place where you can really get a feel for its atmosphere and what makes it distinct from everywhere else. The Nolan one feels like some generic big city. Moreso in Dark Knight - Begins does at least a good bit of building the place up and giving you a feel for how it works, but Dark Knight's Gotham could be anywhere.

Gotham felt more unique in Batman Begins than in Dark Knight, but I think that is thematically what they are going for.
Begins - dirty cesspool, needs a Batman to clean it up. See also: The Narrows, the train station where whats her face is mugged, the train itself being quite dirty.
Dark Knight - cleaner, but in a dirty Chicago-y kind of way (hence filming in Chicago).
Dark Knight Rises - much cleaner than in Dark Knight, ready to be torn down by Bane. (not filmed in Chicago this time)

Got back from watching the midnight screening. Just wanted to say it's good. Really good. I recommend it. Go watch it on the biggest screen you can afford. Right now, if possible. Stop reading this, turn off your computer and go see it. I will wait.

Personally I prefer the Burton/Schumacher vision of Gotham. It looked more epic in scale than Nolan's version.

I will say, I bet 1 thing most people will not miss after this movie is the Han Zimmer score.

I wasn't a big fan of the first movie, but thought it was serviceable as an introduction. I thought the second one was great until the Two-Face arc, so I'm definitely going to see this in theaters.

There are some parts of the score that I like - mostly the Begins main theme and Joker's that sounds like a Redead choir - but for the most part, yeah, it's a bland, forgettable soundtrack. Anyway, picked up tickets for me and my brother a couple of hours ago. Then I swung through Wal-Mart, which was sold out of all of the actually good toys except Gordon. Dammit, how am I supposed to re-enact Jaws 4 now?

I just read Rottentomatoes' Dark Knight Rises reviews because some critics are starting to get death threats...
