I can honestly tell you that if I was schedule to work Christmas or Thanksgiving and wasn't given a choice, I would not be working there for much longer. You can't make up for missing special moments like that with money, no matter how needed it may be. If I was forced to work on Christmas Day at a minimum wage job, I'd just flat out quit. It wouldn't be worth it. Having to work every other Holiday is bad enough, but Christmas Day itself, no thanks. With all due respect, I would imagine a not-so-small portion of workers at McDonalds workers are there because that's the best job they can get at this time. Quitting is an option, but quitting and getting another job wouldn't be NEARLY as easy, especially since most places scale back hours after the holidays. Besides, I think people won't really care about whether the time spent with their families falls on a day other than the 25th if it means they keep a roof over their heads.

Anywhere with a decent sized Jewish population is going to have pretty busy movie theaters on Christmas day (usually right before or after eating previously mentioned Chinese food). Though I've been noticing more and more gentiles showing up the past few years. Is Chinese food kosher??? Likely not. But then it's not like many Jews outside of the really traditional and religious types keep kosher these days. It was originally done for health purposes so it's fairly outdated these days. I mean, I ate a bacon cheeseburger the first night of Passover a couple of years ago. That's like triple super un-Kosher (pork, mixing meat and dairy, and in the case of Passover, the bun).
