If faces won every feud, heels would never win anything. You book a heel champion, monster or chickenshit, to beat a bunch of over babyfaces because theoretically they look more over after that. The face doesn't have to win every feud.

Sometimes the face has to lose in order to build up the heel even more.
So no, Ryback probably won't be getting his revenge on Punk.

I still think that if Punk really is retiring in 2 years or less, nobody gets over on him, PERIOD, and he gets to retire with the belt and to perform the mother of all shoots on his way out.

If I ever came across the book CM Punk: An Autobiography, by Kitsune, I would totally buy it. Your concept of CM Punk is endlessly fascinating.

I have no desire to see Ryback go over Punk at all. Punk is one of my favourites and Ryback just isn't. Simple as that.

Well, how long have there been rumors/reports of wanting to retire the old belt and bring in a new one? And so far the only face they've built up is pretty much getting fed to him (to keep him strong for The Rock) before they move him (Ryback) over to the Blue Brand to feud with Big Show. After Rock is gone, there's nobody left but an ever increasingly broken-down Cena, and Cena's old hat and shouldn't be the guy to take the belt off of Punk. If Punk has less than 2 years before he's out, there's not going to be anybody who can get to even close to his level in that time, considering WWE's crappy booking. The exception to that is Daniel Bryan, if WWE can resist the temptation to do their typical yo-yo push. I could see Bryan being the guy to finally beat him, but if WWE really wants to get rid of the current title belt and introduce a new one, I can see them letting Punk actually leave with it for good this time.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying you're wrong. Just that there's a certain magic whenever you bring to life your concept of CM Punk. Like Holbrook as Twain. Or better, Gould as Evans as Zaius as Holbrook as Twain.

After it was reported that Ryback vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title would take place at the January 7th RAW, and even strongly teased by WWE at RAW and this week's RAW tapings, word came out that the match might not happen after all. Now we know why.
There is strong talk that the match won't happen on January 7th because the idea is to milk Ryback vs. Punk for as long as they can without actually doing the match. Eventually it will happen but officials really want Punk healed up because they have him set for a major WrestleMania 29 role. They want to make sure he doesn't come back and re-injure the knee, putting all Road to WrestleMania plans in jeopardy.

Ryback has lost his last 3 PPV matches. It seems weird for someone they want to be so dominant.

The face doesn't have to win every feud. If the heel is built up only to lose to an already established star, that build up means nothing. It's like if Evolution ended at the hands of The Undertaker, that would've done nothing for anybody. If Punk beats Rock, then Ryback beats him, that's a star-making moment.

You mean aside from the dozen plus times he's demolished punk live on RAW?
Honestly, Punk's done more to make Ryback look like a legit threat than I would have ever imagined.
He fears Ryback, he's taken Shellshock nearly every week, he's had to hire outside help (allegedly) to hold on to his title.
Sure Ryback hasn't won the title (and he probably won't) off Punk, but he's come out of this looking better, stronger, faster than anyone else on the roster thanks to Punk making him look a lot better than he actually he is.

I would love for them to have Ryback beat Punk for the WWE Championship. That would put him over huge, and make him a instant main eventer. Not to mention it'll show that WWE still wants to book towards the future. Unfortunately, it wouldn't surprise me if they gave The Rock the Championship. Judging by how they booked WM 27 and 28 by making The Rock look stronger than everybody else (including the top face of the company), they'll give him the WWE Championship even though he DOESN'T need it.

And even then, who cares? Ryback beat the crap out of The Shield. And did you see him throw Punk through that table? It was awesome. That dude is a monster!

Well if I think hard I think it'll end with a Rock Bottom followed by a People's Elbow straight afterwards. But I'm fully expecting a dirty as AJ in the locker room finish.
