Eddie Guerrero.
I mean, it's in his theme. He lies, he cheats, he steals.
And we loved him for it.

David Copperfield says he does (or did) 500 shows a year. So, I think it's possible to do 400 as Hogan claims. Or maybe David is a liar too?
I wouldn't call Honky Tonk Man a "liar". Just a hypocritical a-hole.

David Copperfield says he does (or did) 500 shows a year. So, I think it's possible to do 400 as Hogan claims. Or maybe David is a liar too? Two a night for 250 days a year is plausible. I was ready to use the long tv tapings argument for Hogan but how often did he appear on those shows they were taping? I imagine at each taping he may have wrestled once (for the live crowd). Clearly the answer is that Hulk Hogan can time travel.

You guys are forgetting the entire crux of Hogan's "400 days" lie. He's not saying 400 matches or 400 cards. He said flying back and forth from Japan made him gain days because of the time difference.

Kurt Angle. Either he's a tremendous liar or totally insane.

How much did Andre weigh at Wrestlemania III?
I have no idea, and Hogan doesn't either. In an interview, talking about that match, Hogan wanted to get the point across that Andre was large. He didn't happen to have Andre's medical records in front of him, so he said a number that was large.
He said that Andre died shortly after. Not later that day. Not the next week. Sure, it was six years later. Hogan's been in the wrestling business for 35 years, and, again, I doubt he had Andre's medical records in front of him. And I also doubt Hogan spends his time reading about wrestling history in books, and on the internet. His career runs through a fairly long timeline, and I'd imagine that, to Hogan, it probably seemed like Andre passed shortly after that match. I know that it's fairly easy for me to forget that Andre had a run with the tag belts, and a fued with Warrior after that. It was something said, off the cuff in an interview. It's not like he proudly proclaimed "I killed Andre the Giant, brother!". It's not like Hogan claimed that he invented the question mark.

I think the appropriate word is a "lie" on his part.

I think the appropriate word is a "lie" on his part. That's appropriate. Another appropriate word would be stupidity. I'm not a Hogan loyalist at all. I just don't think the Andre story is a good example of Hogan being a liar. More like an example of him doing an interview off the top of his head, that's gotten blown out of porportion. I don't consider him to be a liar. Just an idiot.

I think there might be something to the "Hogan is just making stuff up off the top of his head when asked things he doesn't know the real answer to" theory. I can't imagine there's any other explanation that makes sense for this gem: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV6mf9ijX8s

Surprised Ian Rotten's name hasn't been brought up yet Ian was the first name that came to mind when I read the thread title.

There is surely a difference between making up stats and lying.
If you say "I was there when X won the superbowl in 1969"
...but it turns out they won it in 1973. The fact is wrong but it isn't a "lie"
A "lie"isn't getting a date confused, a year wrong, someones weight incorrect or the sequence of events wrong. In Hogan we're talking about a man nearly in his 60s with very little education who spent most of his adult lift filthy rich, not needing to be concerned with anything in the industry beyond what he was doing. He isn't going to be entirely accurate.
But a lie has to be deliberate deception. Hogan didn't wake up one day and think "I'm going to invent a new ending for the Screw Job match."
The only reason Hogan gets pulled up on his poor grasp of facts is because he's Hulk Hogan. Hogan can get the time wrong and get slammed as a 'liar' for it. The scrutiny his comments are held up to - if applied to most other people in the business - would lead to a LOT more criticism of some internet-favourite superstars

Surprised Ian Rotten's name hasn't been brought up yet Ian was the first name that came to mind when I read the thread title. Ian is a special piece of trash, but most of the stuff he's done hasn't been lying from what I recall. I mean yeah you have the constant IWA MS is closing angle, and the Mickie Knuckles bull. But the biggest issues were him being scum and white trash
