It's long by circumstance, not because they want it to be That's bull. I agree. CM Punk's getting The Rock at Rumble is a favor for Punk. Punk may have gotten the shaft in the pecking order a bit, but non-kayfabe-wise, the company has bent over backwards to appease him this past year. He got to work a program with Jericho, where they attempted and were given the freedom to try and create their on Savage/Steamboat match at WM. He got to work programs with people like Daniel Bryan and Ziggler. He got to work with Heyman -- something he's always wanted to do. He'll get The Rock in January. And he's the longest reigning WWE Champion of the last 25 years. Not too bad at all.

The first half was actually pretty good. The stupid heel turn, in my opinion, turned the belt into an afterthought.

Under normal circumstances I'd say yes. However...considering the bulk of his reign has been playing second fiddle to things such as: Who will AJ chose?, Cena Vs. Dolph/Vickie, Cena Vs. Dolph/AJ, Cena Vs. [insert name here] it's no wonder why.
I think some casual fans might even forget he's champ until someone reminds them. That's how his entire run has been made to look.

At the end of the day, Vince stills sees him as just another indy guy..? No, because Vince doesn't see indy guys as indy guys. He sees them as just people. His wrestlers are superstars, thus above normal people. I honestly agree with the Diesel sentiment previously in the thread, but still, it shows that the powers that be realized there was more money in Punk vs. Rock at the Royal Rumble than Cena/Rock II at the Rumble (instead, saving that for WrestleMania)

Will Punk's WWE Title reign last longer than Daniel Bryan's ROH Title reign?
