Never really listened to them, or gave them much thought. But damn, I love their song "The Enemy" (which is in the Smackdown vs RAW 2007 video game).
That song is one of my favorite angry, get-ready-for-a-conflict songs. I listen to that song whenever I'm pissed at someone at work and need to vent.

My fondest memory of them is that they gave Opie of Opie and Anthony their demo tape before they hit big, and he threw it out the window, if I recall. A different DJ gave them a shot, and is credited with giving them their big break. It is funny when people I like sabotage themselves. Sabotage? I think Opie did just fine without the credit. lol I like them, but i wouldnt go out of my way to listen to them, basically its harmless radio rock. And this. Not a big fan by any means, but I still like to listen to "I Stand Alone" on occasion. It reminds me of this awesome Vegeta AMV I saw years ago, ha.

They're awful. They're bland. They appeal to the lowest common denominator of 'rock' listeners. They write awful lyrics ("Crying Like a Bitch", anyone?). And they're plagiarists. Case in point:

Oh, Opie has done very well for himself, but still, it'd have probably got him some lucrative interviews or something when they were at their peak.

I quite enjoy their mellower things: Voodoo, Serenity, the album "The Other Side," and Sully Erna's solo album.

"Whatever" is a well directed video and captures the mosh pits of the late 90s pretty well.
"Voodoo's" a fun song if you pretend he's singing it from the toilet.
For the most part, I can't separate them from their songs in the (I believe) NAVY commercials, and how weird Sonny, the lead singer, got whenever it was discussed in interviews. No matter how the question was phrased, who asked it, or whatever the context, Sonny would just give either the vaguest angry answers or the angriest vague answers on the planet.

'Voodoo' is the only song of their's I know, and that's only because it was strangely popular with my class back in high school. Basing my assumptions off of that one song... I probably don't like them.

Alice in Chains is like my favorite band of all time. I know people call them a ripoff of AIC.
I still like Godsmack anyway. I do see the influence but it's not a total ripoff. Interestingly enough the song Love Sex Hate Pain may be the one that rips them off the most, and it's probably my favorite song of theirs.

Case in point: Geez, be a little more judgmental. I'm not a huge fan but some of their songs are OK and I like Sully as a vocalist.

I haven't even thought about Godsmack since around 1999. I wasn't aware they were still around.

This thread's kinda like kicking a homeless person in the head. They obviously are down on their luck, why throw more troubles on their plate?

Case in point: I'm glad to be told I'm in the lowest common denominator because I like a band whose musical standards are below your high moral tastes. A simple "I don't like them because..." Would suffice. Carry on.
