I think it was pretty un-P.C. when Akeem was announced as being from "Deepest, Darkest Africa". Am I the only black person who wasn't offended by that? I thought the gimmick was so bad it was hilarious.

I don't think a lot of this stuff was THAT offensive, though the Tatanka and Akeem stuff got a little rough, and there's no way that Piper would've been able to get away with the blackface stuff today. Really, the WWF got a lot worse in the Attitude Era, so much so that a lot of it seemed commonplace while today it'd be pretty shocking nowadays. The stuff that Heenan, Jesse and Gorilla said was a lot more subtle than Jerry Lawler calling Goldust a "faggot," for instance, which I still feel is among the worst things ever said on WWE programming (not a small feat by any means).

How about Kevin Sullivan repeatedly referring to his plan to rid the world of Hulkamania as "the final solution?"
Not that that's hilarious, just baffling WCW let that slide for as long as it did.

Damned if I can remember the exact show, but in an early Attitude Era match with TAKA Michinoku, I recall Jerry Lawler using a line like "if you hang an Oriental person upside down, does he get disoriented?" Vince tried to cut off the joke by interrupting, but Lawler finished it anyway.

Kinda subverted but I remember WMVI when Gorilla refused to stand for the Soviet anthem, due to Cold War hostility, but Jesse Ventura stood up and criticised Gorilla for not doing so.

I think it was pretty un-P.C. when Akeem was announced as being from "Deepest, Darkest Africa". I remember when Akeem and the Big Bossman were on Arsenio Hall and Arsenio asked him something to the effect of "So let me get this straight...you're a black man....from Africa?" Hilarious

Actually, Jeep Swanson came in for the Doomsday cage match and for a week or so was known as 'The Final Solution'

Jim Cornette: "Missy Hyatt was prepared to appear in Playboy Magazine this month, but her pictures came back over developed." Jim Ross: "You can't ever say anything nice about this young lady, can you?" Jim Cornette: "That's not true. She has the prettiest smile I ever came across." - Dec. 1989 That's amazing.

Big Show called Taka and Funaki a 'couple of gooks'. Someone else who was broadcasting tried covering it up by saying that he called them 'a couple of goofs'.

It's also a really good line by Cornette.

I just converted King of the Ring '95 to DVD and several times during the show, Dok Hendrix made references to Savio Vega "stealing hubcaps."
That wouldn't fly today!

And didn't Sullivan hpe him as such for a week or two before his debut? Either way, you can't go calling someone "The Final Solution" on television.
