I just watched the promo from tonight a second time, and it was just genius on the part of everyone involved. Having Punk come out and say that his babyface character was a complete hoax to get people to cheer him and buy his merchandise made the heel turn stop feeling forced, and actually made it seem like he never turned face to begin with. It's like the angry CM Punk who cut that promo in Las Vegas was hiding under the surface of that babyface character just trying not to snap, which he finally did last July. Brilliant stuff on behalf of WWE and CM Punk. I'd like to see more face/heel turns handled in the same fashion.

Went a bit too long and a bit of the material made me roll my eyes (particularly, the Tyson Kidd line) but yeah, it was pretty damn good and his delivery was spot on.

Nice to get it finally said, even though it's been in his theme tune this whole time. "I exploit you, still you love me."

I'm sure I would have liked Punk's promo.
If I just knew what exactly it was he was going on about.

I loved the part where he said something about Florida, causing the crowd to erupt as if he were a face giving the state props, and he had a look on his face like "there ya go, exactly what I've been talking about!". It was just perfect. ;D

I think Rock being the guy he was talking to was what made it what it was. With Cena, it would have fallen flat.
(Granted, Rock kinda sucked, but you really can't expect his usual routine with the times we're in, but still.)

I'm sure I would have liked Punk's promo. If I just knew what exactly it was he was going on about. It helps if you actually pay attention to the show.

I think we were all waiting for that sort of promo he did at ROH when he basically called himself a snake. I actually wish he did this promo much sooner than he did. And he should have done it in Chicago which really would have made it special.

It still won't work. It'll work now because of the Rock but he was still getting heat at the end.
Not to mention, this crowd *wanted* Cena. Maybe this should have been the first step in his heel turn, but after everything they've done, now it's kind of the last resort. Nowhere else to go after this.
Reminds me of Homer trying to piss off Ned Flanders in the mental institution.

I love how he played the crowd like they're programmed robots. Mention Ric Flair, they woo. Mention their hometown, they cheer. While at the same time, telling them they don't mean a damn, all they were were means to an end to keep him strong and get him money/power.

I don't see how anyone can logically cheer for this douche now. I'm not a fan of The Rock, but I hope he kicks the shit out of Punk at the Rumble.

I loved the Tyson Kidd line because it underscrored that fact that Punk couldn't give a crap about Kidd at all. It actually makes him worse that he could have the power to change the destiny of the Clays and Kidds of the world, but the only thing Punk wants to do is make more money and be in main events.
Punk claimed to the be voice of the voiceless, but the voice he really listed to was his bank account and that the Chris Masters and Harry Smiths he cried crocodile tears over was to gain attention for Punk and Punk alone.

I wish Rock would have pointed out that the crowd cheers because they want to cheer. People aren't being tricked into it.
