NBA 2K: The best basketball games period (they're so much better than what EA was doing that EA hasn't put out a simulation NBA game in like 4 years). Top Spin: Really fun tennis games with some alright customization (nothing compared to WWE) that are put out every three to four years. MLB 2K: They're not very good and that mostly has to do with the fact that 2K was required to make them as a result of them buying the exclusivity rights to them in 2005 (the deal expired in 2012) and them losing a ton of money of them despite being the only baseball game on Xbox. They're still making them, but I could see them dropping it in favor of WWE. NHL 2K: Sort of like NBA 2K but it reverse where EA makes the better game and 2K's stopped making them. NFL 2K: They don't make them anymore (because of EA's exclusivity rights to the NFL), but when they were, they were regarded as better than EA's game. In short, if the potential WWE game is like the NBA 2K games, we're all good. But if it ends up like MLB 2K, a lot of people will be dissatisfied. I'll remain neutral for the time being...

If there's a barebones game with none of the creative options, I'll pass. Can't imagine anything duller. The creativity possible in the THQ games kept me playing even during the 4/5 year period where I didn't watch WWE at all.

Personally, as long as it has a good CAW, decent set of moves, match types like cage, HIAC, hardcore, and Royal Rumble, and maybe Universe mode(if 2k will use it), I'll be fine with that as long as the gameplay itself is exceptional.

Again. I'll gladly take a game with no gimmick matches if it is actually fun to play.
I play Fire Pro and King of Colosseum 2 on the regular. I don't miss Cages, ladders or anything.

It could bring the return of a GM Mode.

Seriously, I pretty much only played as my caws since like War Zone... if they don't have at least a decent CAW mode then I won't be buying it.

Dumb WWE '13 question: How do I make CPU vs. CPU happen in Universe mode? At the beginning of the match when you choose who to play as, press Start instead of A to select your character. If there's a barebones game with none of the creative options, I'll pass. Can't imagine anything duller. The creativity possible in the THQ games kept me playing even during the 4/5 year period where I didn't watch WWE at all. I agree. I'll probably rent it first, either way, but the near open sandbox monster 13's become is why I love it. If the next game isn't good, I'll content myself with 13 and FPR for another year.

Yeah, Half the fun for me is coming up with various gimmicks and outfits for CAWs.

I was told if you skip and sim stuff in Universe mode you don't get cut scenes and storylines. In Universe mode I got Raw, Smackdown, and ROH. ROH is mostly filled with CAWS. If I sim Raw/Smackdown but watch and play the ROH shows will I get to see storylines and cut scenes? Actually, after I reset Universe last time, I did the remove all Alies and Enemies, then simmed past 2 months. The computer made up new feuds by it self as it went and I had cutscenes and new enemies and allies based on my roster choice. You can also tell which matches have cutscenes in them if you go to MAtch Creator. If there's a cut scene, warns you not to change the rules. You can still change participants to get people you want to show up in the scene. Really? Because I tired doing that and it didn't work. Or maybe the right guy didn't win, not too sure.

It'll be interesting to see what take-two does with the game. They have a fantastic studio as well as the funding, but as seen before their track record goes either way.
Realistically, I don't think we'll get a new wrestling game for atleast 2 years, as we still have yet to find out the fate of Yukes in all of this. Take Two is the kind of company I see building a new model instead of improving upon the old.
And not that the WWE games have ever really been displeasing to my eye, but I'd be interested in a slightly different graphic style, with everything they do with the 2K series, I'm really excited about more fluid animations.
PLUS this acquisition is coming during the twilight of this generation. With the next gen consoles all rumored to be hitting this holiday season, I wouldn't be surprised if the next one was a next gen affair.

One thing that bugs me about WWE '13 is that you can't have the champions come out second in the entrances. For most players that isn't a big issue, but when I'm trying to recreate matches like Punk/Cena from MITB, it kind of loses its accuracy when Punk is coming out second instead of Cena.

A lot of what we're forgetting here is what WWE wants from the game. If WWE is intent on being able to sell a game every year, they'll be a WWE 14, whether it comes out from 2K or not. After all, WWE is the ones who used their escape clause to get out of their contract with THQ (which is why they weren't part of the auction on Wednesday). So this might facilitate Yukes being retained to finish the engine and working with 2K to release it. I wouldn't be too heartbroken if Yukes were brought on board by 2K to get a game out in time, but I really think a lot of the issues with the game as far as models, graphics, glitches, and AI boils down to how Yukes programmed the game, not how THQ was handling them. If it was THQ just not giving them time to fix and work out bugs, then there's a good chance 2K will have more budget and insight to work through that. But I have a feeling that there's a reason why bugs that were in WWE 11 and 12 have kept finding their way into 13, and I don't think it has to do with THQ's lack of oversight. Bottom line, eventually, we're going to need a new, more dynamic engine to keep this game fresh and exciting. Predator technology just ain't gonna cut it.

The thing I'm most curious about is the online capability. In other words, is 2K as bombarding about using online features (to the point being willing to move offline features to online like creating a team in NCAA) and having a somewhat limiting offline experience? At least with the WWE games, you never have to use online unless you want the DLC/CAWs.

And then he gets hired by EA to head their sports division. "We have got a lot of questions about whether or not Madden 14' will have a pass function. And while I have personally fought for passing to make a return this year, unfortunately we focused on more core gameplay aspects that'll make Madden 14' the most authentic NFL experience yet. We're hoping passing, oh and the ability to pick your plays can make it into next year's."

Because I'm feeling curious and what some more conversation going on the subject of 2K, I have a question:
What do you think the chances are for 2K to hire AKI/syn Sophia to work on future WWE games?
