I know people are suddenly coming out of the woodwork talking about how great Trent Barreta was and how much they loved him and how he deserved a push, but...
(this is by no means scientific or an overall gauge of one wrestler's popularity outside of this particular forum)
...the name "Trent Barreta" was mentioned on the Attitude Era thru Current forum four times in December 2012, 13 times in November 2012 and 12 times in October, and a majority of those came from NXT spoilers.
If people were really that affectionate for Trent Barreta, where was this support prior to his release?

Personally I thought he was already gone since I don't watch NXT. Most people aren't just going to keep talking about someone forever if they don't see them.

So I take it this is a weekend-long thing, or did we get all worked up for 2 people? Quote from the original article in the OP: "We've heard so far of at least two releases but more could take place." In other words, those two were pretty much confirmed but nobody has a clue about any others. It would seem odd to release them over the weekend rather than during the week. Wrestlezone.

True Long Island Story were going to lead to a repackaging or a push once he returned. Or at the very least, Ryder/Trent tag team.

I really like him, although it totally makes sense they would cut him seeing how he is the least important person on their roster.

If people were really that affectionate for Trent Barreta, where was this support prior to his release? He hadn't been doing much at the time. That doesn't take away from the fact that I, and others, appreciated his work. I first started watching him in FCW as a slightly goofy character, who briefly ended up as the Girl From Mexico and did a cute little angle where he was unmasked and Josh Matthews got after him for kissing Trent Barreta. Caylen Croft came in, and they formed the Dudebusters and later brought in Curt Hawkins as a trio. They were a great team in FCW, and I and others were always singing their praises. I talked about my WWE live experience in Edmonton, and how Trent and Hawkins were the dark match, and it was an excellent match that really got the Edmonton crowd going, until they were killed by NXT season 3. People were waiting for him to come back, because he was a strong talent, he was in NXT, he wasn't doing anything crazy, because people were waiting for him. People loved the Where's Trent return video that NXT did, one of the best videos WWE has done all year. But yeah, lots of people loved Trent Barreta.

After the stories that have been surfacing about Bill DeMott, I'm not surprised if they are getting rid of him.

Does that mean I have to post about him all the time? Theres a lot of guys I feel the same way about and I dont post about them either. Your logic=fail.

Probably just looking for things that aren't there, but... Briley Pierce @hotyoungbriley Remember on The Office when the little nerdy intern nobody liked somehow got a promotion and then he instantly went on a huge power trip? Retweeted by Trent Barreta Well it certainly seems cryptic. Well on that note not sure if posted but this was Trent's last match with the company www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSU9e0aPNK0#t=18m15sYup jobbing to Dolph. Then having his ex-girlfriend AJ metaphorically kick dirt on him after the match. What a way to go. Man, that is cold blooded. I had only seen Trent wrestle a few times but thought he was pretty talented. Shame he didn't get more of a chance. With the recent tag team revival I thought he would have a better chance. Sorry for the baseless speculation, but I wonder if AJ's recent super push had anything to do with this. I can't wait for Trent's inevitable post-release shoot.

Interesting that they would hire Billy Gunn as head trainer over a lot of guys that have been training guys there for a long time. Has he been a trainer down there at all?

I can't wait for Trent's inevitable post-release shoot. Somehow, it will be Cena's fault. Also, he would have been penciled in to end Taker's streak at Mania but AJ put a stop to that. It will go something like that...

Billy Gunn as head trainer of NXT is hilarious to me for some reason.

If anyone's wondering, his last on-screen appearence was on this week's NXT helping with running the Shield out of the building

So, we're mocking Billy Gunn but DeMott and Steve Keirn were fine?
