I love the Trestman hire. Has the deepest resume of all the candidtes IMO. Looking forward to next season already! Same here. I'm thrilled that the Bears upper management finally allowed a general manager to do his own decision making. I'm not used to that as a Bears fan. Plus, it appears that Trestman was the guy he wanted all along to begin with. He's the only guy that was interviewed that isn't currently a coordinator and the only one that hasn't recently been coaching in the NFL.

I get the feeling someone let him know that the rumored one year Bowl ban coming for Oregon is a little more severe than that.

I'm a Baltimore guy so I'm biased, but why did Atlanta get so much press for narrowly defeating Seattle at home, winning only because of rookie QB play and bad clock management, yet the Ravens win on the road against the #1 seed in the AFC in a game that was only close because of two returns from Trindon Holliday, and almost nobody talks about it?

Because John Fox and Matt Prater gifted the Ravens that game. The game was much closer than Seattle/Atlanta, but the Ravens still had a lot of help. And you're assuming that they wouldn't have scored if Holliday hadn't taken those kicks to the house, when they really weren't struggling to move the ball.

Baltimore's done it before, the Falcons haven't been to the NFC Championship in years. The Falcons have a reputation as chokers, and they were playing the hottest team in the league, so not many were expecting them to win. The Ravens on the other hand were coming into the game emotional, against Peyton Manning (who isn't known for great post seasons), against a 13-3 AFC team, and they were one missed kick from the Super Bowl last year.

Plus the Ravens are expected to do well in the play-offs given their history of doing so; so while it was an upset, it wasn't the story of Atlanta finally getting a play-off win.

Man, Oregon is going to take a few years to recover from this aren't they?
So many players will probably be jumping ship either to another school(if they were a recruit) or jumping to the NFL early.

And you're assuming that they wouldn't have scored if Holliday hadn't taken those kicks to the house, when they really weren't struggling to move the ball. It wasn't a "gift." You're taking it for granted that Denver was guaranteed to score on those drives. It's not like the Seattle game where all they had to do on their two bungled scoring attempts was kick field goals. The Falcons are a dome team so it's not like that would've been hard to make, even for a replacement kicker. I agree that the knee in the 4th quarter was a massive mistake but Denver essentially got 14 gimme points. Denver only scored 3 TDs otherwise. Two returns for TDs in any game is a highly unlikely occurrence. A lot more unlikely than a team being able to kick two field goals in perfect conditions.

Bears hire Saints offensive line coach(and interim interim coach for first 6 games) Aaron Kromer to be offensive coordinator.
