Postseason success is important, but I see it more as the exclamation point on a career rather than the only thing to judge success on. I don't think any less of Dan Marino being an all-time great QB even with his lack of success in the postseason because he was an incredible QB in the regular season.
It's also all too easy to judge a quarterback on postseason wins or Super Bowl rings when in a lot of cases their play isn't the only reason (or in cases like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson, in spite of their play) their team wins a Super Bowl.
Basically, everything Sektor said. His posts are 100% spot on.

I'll give you the line but I'd never say he's had an elite core of receivers. He's had 5 maybe 5 that could make it elsewhere, IMO, Welker, Moss, Gronk and Hernandez. The only other person I can think of would be Stallworth and I think he's a two or three at best. Brady has made a lot of people look good and because he has had little to no run game teams focus on the pass and he still torches them. I've watched him through college and into today and he is that good. You and Sektor above are quite right, a lot of his receivers look great because of the passes that he makes to them. But my point is that he is a QB who plays with a phenomenal offensive line that gives his receivers due time to get separation, to run complex routes, and gives Brady the opportunity to throw the ball whenever he sees fit. Never having to worry about getting hurried or hit makes the game a whole lot easier to play. He gets twice the time to throw as a lot of other guys, and given that his style is that of a pure pocket passer, every second he gets makes him all the more dangerous. I don't think we'll ever know quite how good he actually is until he gets a run-of-the-mill offensive line that forces him to play like most QBs. In games where he gets pressured he gets thrown off pretty badly. But I don't think that he's ever going to have a bad O-line, not between the relatively short time he has left to be a starting QB and the importance that the Pats coaching and management seems to place on having a good set of linemen. If only the Patriots had a year that they didn't have a great set of receivers www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/2004.htm

I have to call Brady the best of all time. For a throwaway draft pick who nobody predicted to do anything to become a Super Bowl champion multiple times over and become the face of an entire sport - that's just absolutely incredible.
Like somebody said earlier, I see the Brady vs. Manning battle as Brady being 1 and Manning 1A - but I have to call Brady the best that's every played the game. I don't think we'll ever see a QB better than him, and I'm not even a Pats fan.

I'd personally call Montana the best there ever was in terms of QB. Brady and Peyton are in the conversation, but I think Joe was better than both.

New Eagles coach Chip Kelly revealed at his introductory press conference that he's a "huge fan" of QB Nick Foles. I literally shouted out "f*** yeah" when Chip said that. I've been terrified that the Eagles were entertaining the thought of keeping Vick or using the #4 pick on a QB. To me, Foles showed enough talent to at least get a year as the starter. Also, I'm really happy for Bruce Arians, but I have to wonder if he'll remain healthy enough to be effective. Wasn't he pretty sick during the playoffs? At his age, I know that dealing with health issues on top of being a NFL head coach won't be easy. Best of luck to him though.

If I remember right, he was in there for so long because they initially couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. I'm happy for him, though. Hopefully he can bring them some success.

I'd personally call Montana the best there ever was in terms of QB. Brady and Peyton are in the conversation, but I think Joe was better than both. Also keep in mind the different eras they played in: - Dead Ball era (pre-1978)
- Live Ball era (Post-Mel Blount rule): Montana, Elway, Marino, Aikman, Kelly, Favre, Bledsoe, Young
- Post-2004 era (after PI, holding, and illegal contact rules were strictly enforced [following the '03 AFC Championship game between NE and IND], as well as rules to protect offensive players, esp. the QB): The Mannings, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Roethleisberger

I think "best QB of all time" is a really loaded title in the NFL, because a QB is only ever going to reach the peak that the pieces around him allow him to reach. It's impossible to separate, say, Joe Montana out from Jerry Rice, or Tom Brady from Bill Belichick (who almost made the playoffs with Matt freakin' Cassel), and the QB's are never really head-to-head, but head to defense.
There have been a lot of fantastic QB's in the NFL, but it's really impossible to say which of them are the best when they all rely so heavily on having a good team around them and smart coaches.

Ian Rapoport @rapsheet What I know about #Cardinals DC Ray Horton: He's not happy. He's also under contract. So is Todd Bowles in Philly. Lot of hoops to jump thru
Ian Rapoport @rapsheet That said, @mikesilver says Bowles will replace Horton as DC with Cardinals. I do not know that for a fact. But it would make sense.

While I would be excited at the two teams swapping DCs (I really think it would work out best for both teams in their current situations) I am worried that Horton will try and install a 3-4 defense here. Philadelphia just doesn't have the personnel for that and would need 2-3 to get them, not to mention it would make DeMeco Ryans, the Eagles best defensive player, useless.

Same here, I may be biased since I'm a Niners fan, but I've got to rank Montana as the best QB of all time. Yeah, he played with the greatest receiver ever, and guys like John Taylor, Dwight Clark, Brent Jones, Tom Rathman and Roger Craig, but that doesn't take away from him. The guy won 4 Super Bowls, was cool under pressure, and most importantly was so f***ing smart. It didn't matter what you did, Montana would pick you apart. That's where I give Montana the edge over everyone else, how damn smart he was. He led the Chiefs to an AFC Championship Game. And like Brady he wasn't taken in the 1st round. Numerous teams passed on him, and they all regretted it. But Steve Young is still my favorite player ever.

The Boston Globe's Greg Bedard suggests that Ryan Mallett could be targeted by the Browns via trade now that Mike Lombardi is Cleveland's VP of Player Personnel.
New Browns VP of player personnel Michael Lombardi called the selection of Brandon Weeden at No. 22 overall last year a "panicked disaster."
Lombardi also told a Cleveland radio station in September that Colt McCoy gives the team a better chance to win.
