Do you think they'll ever do this finish? It'd be great heat for a heel walking into the event and winning having done none of the work.

I don't think it would ever happen.

It's always brought up around here every-year at Rumble time as an idea. I'm not sure how it would work though, to be honest part of me thinks It would just feel kind of cheap.
I mean they build the Rumble as the "Most gruelling and intense match of the year" and always play up how hard it is to win.
So to have this victory would give a heel great heat, of course. But would it take something away from the match and render it almost no replay'ibility? I'd say so.

I really wanted them to do it last year with Jericho during his silent phase. It would have been perfect.
I still want it to happen some day, but damn that would have been good last year!!

It would be so anti climatic Not if it was somebody who deserved it and in a year where the match itself was playing second-fiddle to a WWE Title main event like it likely will be this year..

I think it could be done. The key would have to be to distract the audience SO MUCH with fast action, quick eliminations and then a sudden yet impactful finish, that they forget there's still one more person.
Take 2 guys - say, Rock and Punk - with a huge rivalry, that EVERYONE is waiting to see go at it. One is in there for a while, the other comes out at...#27.
They go at it. FINALLY. The crowd is pumped and into it. And it becomes such a huge fight that other people in the ring are getting involved. And they start getting dumped, by these 2 guys. Maybe 1 or 2 eliminations by others to keep things random. Heck, maybe they even briefly "team up" to eliminate a big impossible-to-handle wrestler.
But as people are getting ditched it becomes rather clear this match could very well end with these 2 guys still fighting.
#28 and 29 come out.....and they mean nothing, they're gone within a minute. A jobber and maybe even a high midcarder. Get the people going nuts thinking anything could happen. That it WILL be these 2 for the finish.
And then - BAM!!! Double elimination. It gets so hot and heavy that one of them doesn't even think and tosses himself out along with the other. Like Foley/Orton in '04, not quite like Bret/Lex in '94.
Commotion. Fans don't know what's quite happening, but they're cheering the chaos. Referees and officials coming down to break things up. Chairs flying, refs flying, tables breaking.
.....and then in the background, the countdown starts. And some notorious heel - say, Ziggler - walks out, runs into the ring and the bell sounds.
It's a helluva chore to pull off, because they would really need 2 guys whose rivalry has almost never come to blows in order to get the people that riled up.........but in theory, it could be done.

That would just lack any feeling of finality to the thing unless this heel started exploding everything and entered the ring with his own marching band.

Like so many things, it would all depend on the announcers. They would have to convincingly get so drawn up into the action that they forget there's one more person.

That would have been amazing. Have Jericho take 15 minutes just to enter the ring, doing his whole "rile everyone up incessantly until they hate my guts", then do his weird "I'm crying now" part when he enters and wins.

It might not be so anti-climactic if we still have a match like The Rock vs CM Punk to look forward to...

It should happen this year
#28 and #29 eliminate each other
The countdown begins and the announcers say "OMG, whoever this is, he's gonna win the Royal Rumble and go to Wrestlemania!!!"
Then......the clock counts down and Daniel Bryan appears!

It's a hell of an idea for a heel just to walk in and win it. However you lose some epic moments like the final 4 stair down and then the final 2 going at it. Also it would make for a shorter rumble.

You could have a situation where the last two guys (minus #30) hate each other so much and are so intent on eliminating each other, that they lose control and cost each other the match Cue #30 to win it all.

It would only work if, say, the guy who is entering the ring last never gets to make it there as someone attacks him.
Say Ryback being stopped by the Shield. Storyline progression and all that.

I'd love to see it happen just for the enormous crowd reaction when the music hit.
