or maybe they could slightly delay it and almost create the same thing. #28 and #29 are both trying to toss the other out barely hanging on- maybe both going over the top rope but still fighting on the apron-, #30 comes out, rushes to the ring and eliminates both remaining guys at the same time before they have a chance to react to his enterance and wins the rumble- time spent in match: 3 seconds.

It'd be a great fake out ending. Let's take this for example:
#30 buzzes in. No one's in the ring. Brad Maddox walks down to the ring. He's celebrating, taking his time, waving and laughing. He's going to be the next WWE Champion, and he knows it. He jumps in, stands on the turnbuckle, and points to the sign.
As he does all this, behind him, the refs are waving. When he turns around, he realizes what they were waving for: Kane rolled out under the bottom rope and was never actually eliminated. Kane makes short work of Maddox, and finally wins a Rumble.
Also, are the time limits still in place to make your way to the ring? They could always have a heel enter at #30 and take too long making his way to the ring, thus defaulting the victory to #29 and setting up an insta-feud.

IMO, the best way to do this is to actually have the ring clear so #30 can win it, but after they win, still end the show with some sort of big confrontation or brawl that furthers the angle.
I could have easily seen this going down between McMahon and Austin in the late '90s.

It would be funny if there was a mad dash/brawl between a handful of wrestlers to try to get in the ring.

Glass shatters. Crowd goes nuts. Give that man a mic. Cut the anticipation with a knife.

I'd like to see it done with Heath Slater, just because it'd be funny as hell as he'd shake his hair and his tongue around on his way to the ring, knowing he already has it won.
...which would actually be even better for the Kane fakeout.

This could work in the mini rumble that they sometimes have the RAW before the Rumble.

I didn't like it when there were 3 guys remaining before number 30 entered in the 2010 Royal Rumble. I always like the ending to have as many guys as possible to make the match seem grueling. Number 30 entering the ring and winning it would seem anti-climatic.

It's a funny idea but I don't think it would work on WWE's big scale for one main reason: That would mean the Rumble match itself would only be a half-hour long. There'd be tons of mass eliminations and it would be rushed as hell.

I could have easily seen this going down between McMahon and Austin in the late '90s. Maybe have a Rumble where over 50 superstars are 'eligible' for it with only 30 actually getting to participate, but no one knows which 30. The drawing is done during the Rumble match itself. Have most of the guys sitting in the back wondering who is gonna be picked, if at all. So after the countdown, when the music hits, thats when they know who's been picked and have to run down. Could still have surprise entrants. Maybe have whoever is picked at #30 be sitting around with a bunch of guys all wondering which of them it'll be. Then as #30's music hits, he shows off and is attacked by the others out of resentment.

I would love for that to be how the "higher power" of Shield reveals himself, if there even is one. I imagine they wouldn't be in the Rumble, right? So have them interfere when there are one or two superstars left and throw them out, then as soon as #30 comes out, they bow down or something. Like Mason Ryan with CM Punk. I dunno.

I had an idea for this several years ago.
Two guys are left in the ring. The buzzer sounds for #30, but nobody enters. The last two guys end up eliminating each other, and almost immediately afterwards, Paul Heyman enters the ring, and the bell goes off. Paul Heyman is your Rumble winner.
Heyman announces that he bought the final spot in the match to protect his client, the world champion. Therefore, according to his logic, there will be no title match at Wrestlemania.
