To be fair about that last one, lie detector tests are BS, which is why they cannot be held up in court as proof of anything in many countries. The rest of the measures that were overlooked though... yeah, that's something out of a bad whodunit right there.

Judging by how well they investigated that alleged sexual assault, seems like par for the course for Notre Dame. Though at least the Te'o thing isn't criminal, unless the money donated in the fake girl's name had a dubious fate (IIRC it was just donated to a cancer charity). Hilarious and embarrassing, but not criminal.

That's some fine detective work, Lou.

So Notre Dame's investigation essentially amounted to them yelling, "Lennay!" out an open window, not getting a response and going, "Okay, case closed." ;D

Between this and the sexual assault case from earlier in the year, it's obvious where ND has their priorities.

Katie Couric will have an on-camera interview with Manti Te'o and his parents.

Katie Couric will have an on-camera interview with Manti Te'o and his parents. Since she is affiliated with ABC, which is affiliated with ESPN I wouldn't expect this to be a very revealing interview. Te'o is so deep into damage control to salvage his draft position that it's embarrassing.

Damn, the Stars organization is killing it. First, the crack towards Tony Romo, now this. Brilliant.

Between this and the Romo jab on their twitter, the Dallas Stars have become my favorite team out west.

so Te'o admitted that he briefly lied in a taped interview. From December until the story broke. Still sticking to the claim that he didn't know ahead of time.
Still some things he has to clear up that are inconsistencies, but at least we are getting somewhere

Him admitting that he lied about part of it makes it harder to believe he didn't lie about all of it.

I stand by my stance that some people hide the fact that a crime had been committed against them, they tend to try to hide as if a crime was never happened.
I think that Te'o was so embarrassed that he got duped that he made some stuff up.

Eh, he's fulla shit, but it's weird how quickly I got burnt out on this story. He weirdly faked a dead gf, it was revealed; he looks like a moron. Show's over, nothing more to see.

Like I said, he's a lying moron either way. Either he was ridiculously naive or it was a scummy (and ultimately ineffective) attempt to drum up sympathy votes for the Heisman. But either outcome still means he's a moron and a liar, just for different reasons and to different degrees.
Regardless, maybe if he wasn't so preoccupied with his imaginary girlfriend, his defensive play against Bama wouldn't have become just as much a figment of his imagination.

Eh, he's fulla s***, but it's weird how quickly I got burnt out on this story. He weirdly faked a dead gf, it was revealed; he looks like a moron. Show's over, nothing more to see. It's the way these bizarre stories almost always go. It burns white hot at first because it comes out of the blue and it's interesting. People say that we'll be talking about this for months because we've never seen anything like it before. Then in 10 days or so all that can possibly be said has been said, people have formed their opinions on the matter, and you've gotten all you're going to get source wise from the parties involved. I'm with you. The juice is gone from this story. It was fun/sad to talk about for a week or so and now life goes on. Te'o will get drafted and we'll be talking about enormous NFL players bowling him over like Bama did instead. The only details that keep grabbing my attention when I notice them on twitter revolve around the fact that Te'o still isn't just telling his side of the story and letting facts speak for themselves. Today's deal is "unverified phone records". Just like he would talk to ESPN but wouldn't allow it to be on camera and only allow part of the transcript to be used on air. He'll only give his big interview to someone who shares his agency allegiance. At this rate nothing is going to happen to change my mind unless he actually just opens his mouth in a public forum with no restrictions placed on it by him and his handlers. All that keeps happening is his group manipulating the situations to go in his benefit no matter what.
