Here's Jonathon Coulton
Here's Glee
Here they are layered. You will notice that the singing doesn't synch up but the instuments do a little to well.

Makes me wonder if they've done this in the past too.

I want to say something so bad but I am not getting banned over defending Glee. All I am going to say is that I do hear that they are the same but it doesn't make me love the show any less
And this is a Season 1 song, I am shocked it took people this long to notice this cover

I think the world will view this with a resounding "Who cares?"
The controversy going on now is likely the best thing that's ever happened to JC's music, and I say that as a big fan

The best thing about that to me is the video telling you not to watch Glee.
Like yeah... I'll take my TV viewing advice from you, Youtube guy.

Yeah that video message was kinda extreme but it's the only youtube link with the layered effect. Still the main point is the man should get credited for the track.

So a rip off of a cover song?

Glee specializes in covering songs, right? That seems to be the major selling point of the show, so I'm failing to see how a cover can be seen as a ripoff - unless I'm missing something here.

John Coulton's version of Baby got back added a melody to the song (and changed a lyric from Mix-a-lot's in trouble to Johnny C.'s in trouble) Both of which were used in the Glee version without Coulton's approval. I want to say something so bad but I am not getting banned over defending Glee. All I am going to say is that I do hear that they are the same but it doesn't make me love the show any less And this is a Season 1 song, I am shocked it took people this long to notice this cover It's an upcoming song for season 4. I think you You are perhaps somehow confusing Baby Got Back with The Thong Song.

Honestly, I'm surprised anyone in that show still hasn't been jailed for their unprovoked assault on Rocky Horror.

When I first read the thread, I thought I stepped into an alternate universe where Baby Got Back was written by somebody else.

Makes me wonder if they've done this in the past too. They have. Greg Laswell's version of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Glee used his melody for their version, never gave him credit either.

Glee should be lifting better material. That song flat-out sucks IMO. The ironic cover has been done to death, to pull it off you need to bring more to the table than that.

People still watch Glee ? I quit after they murdered Don't Stop Believing and hung the corpse out to dry.

I wonder how long it'll take for Ryan Murphy to go on a vitriolic rant against JoCo and call him a homophobe.

I'm past the point where I believe that anyone working on Glee has any morals whatsoever. Their hatred of any non-LG part of the LGBT spectrum is enough to prove that.

I dont even watch Glee any more, but my over all reaction to this was 'and?'
Really, who cares?
It's people finding reasons to hate on the the show rather than just saying 'I dont like this show' and moving on.

It's people finding reasons to hate on the the show rather than just saying 'I dont like this show' and moving on. Pretty sure lawyers care. Also, when you start a show whose premise is the creation of songs and musicals, ripping off other artists without even giving them credit pretty much nullifies any reason for that show to exist.
