Maybe the character doesn't have to actually be a homosexual. He can be bi, or they can just say he "has sex with men" (which some people do even if they identify as straight). Yeah but when would be the appropriate time to throw out that he has sex with men? It's just weird. No one ever just points out that the current wrestlers have sex with women.[/quote] Oh you know, Cole can just drop it in during his matches. "Now Jerry did you know that Ryback reads 1-1.5 novels every quarter year? Eats 13 large meals a day, LOVES intercourse with men....says it makes him feel 'hungry'"

that's what I keep saying. to clarify from my first post, I don't have a problem at all with the idea in and of itself, but for some reason it's one of those gimmicks that keeps being suggested for whatever random midcarder, as if anyone could pull it off. it would have to be someone whose actually gay IRL because the minute he's out in public with a woman, the gimmick's blown. yeah we all know wrestling is fake but in wrestling the line between kayfabe and reality is so blurred that a guy pretending to be gay when he isn't would be pre-ruined. Maybe the character doesn't have to actually be a homosexual. He can be bi, or they can just say he "has sex with men" (which some people do even if they identify as straight). When would be the appropriate time to throw out that he has sex with men? That would be weird. No one ever points out that some guy has sex with women.

He could just slip it casually into his promos. "FEED ME MORE gay sex with gay men because I'm totally gay. Gay." Completely natural.

Gay or straight, what kind of horrible person would cop to sleeping with Ryback?

Maybe this wrestler, and some other random face make a pact and start a "bromance with benefits" because they aren't getting any "action" from the Divas. Someone like Cesaro, Sandow, Swagger or Zeb finds out and outs them to the WWE Universe. The faces defend themselves because they feel that what they do is private and they don't want a "label" attached to them. They're just "two buddies helping each other out" and while they don't have any problems with homosexuals, they don't want to be treated like heroes or martyrs to something they don't identify with.

I am not saying that this could never work, but it would absolutely need to be done with wrestlers who are actually LGBT. 1. This would be a rather groundbreaking angle. Better to not take it from someone who is ACTUALLY LGBT 2. It would be extremely patronizing with straight wrestlers doing it.

People are seriously giving the average fan way too much credit as to how they would respond to a gay wrestler.

Making CM Punk gay would be an interesting option to explore for heel heat. Open your eyes, what do you see? Secure in my sexuality I play with ladies, I play with twinks I identify LGBT Secure in my sexuality

Only if the gimmick involved several humorous skits of Ryback doing "traditional gay things" like hanging out a gay bar but he just sits there and chows down on a plate of nachos while guys are all around dancing to club music. Or maybe hanging out with his overly effeminate boyfriend shopping at a clothes store. Ryback as serious as can be tries on a number of sweaters while his boyfriend offers statements like, "Girl you look like a hot mess."

Seems pointless unless dude himself was gay.
Like if we're then not really gonna touch on it again, and he's actually straight , why even bother?

No. Just no. It's bad enough that I can't turn around without constantly hearing about gays these days. The last thing I want is a "seriouz" gay wrestler on my TV.

I don't think it would work. Most of his fanbase is either kids (and it would go over their heads) or meat-head fratboy types (who would turn on him and likely chant homophobic slurs, especially in certain parts of the country).
