22 was awesome. While not the best 'Mania of all time, the buildup was so weak that even just a average overall performance would have been good. That was vastly succeeded by some spirited performances (special nod to Undertaker for making 2006 Mark Henry look good), and a RED HOT CROWD!

I always have fond memories of WM 22 because I had a really good time watching it. One of the few wrestling ppvs I have watched with a big group of my friends. We ate good, drank, and really enjoyed the show. If a show is based on how entertained you are watching it, WM 22 gets a high ranking for that.

See now, that would've had the dramatic weight to lift the show above hodgepodge. Rey vs Angle, putting Orton in a real match with Shawn or I dunno anything but a triple threat, would've also been helped the show significantly, I think. It should have been Rey vs Orton, and Angle vs Taker. Given the incredible match that Angle/Taker had the previous month, and the actual feud those two had going, it would have made much more sense and made the PPV much more memorable. As is, it's nowhere near as bad as Wrestlemania 9.

Wrestlemania 22 has a really great opening video package, one of the best of any Wrestlemania, IMO.
And Edge spearing Foley through the flaming table sure looked cool.
...but yeah, that's all I got.

On the contrary, I loved 22. Yeah the buildup was weak, but the quality of the show was fantastic. The only gripe I have is that the WHC match only went around 12 minutes. A fun twelve minutes, but not good when it was the second year in a row the World title match was rushed, and time was given to lesser matches like the pillow fight and the Boogeyman match. Plus, that image of Mickey licking her fingers...

I really really enjoyed this WrestleMania. I was a huge RVD fan at the time, so him winning MITB pretty much made it so that I was going to have fun no matter what. But I enjoyed most of the matches, and even though Boogeyman vs. The Huffmans was bad, the backstage segment with the freaks was pretty fantastic. The Pillowfight was all-around bad, but not enough to bring the show down.

WrestleMania 22 and 23 are amongst my all time least favorite Manias. WWE was just in this weird funk that didn't seem to end until 2008.

WrestleMania 22 and 23 are amongst my all time least favorite Manias. WWE was just in this weird funk that didn't seem to end until 2008. I feel ya, I feel ya. There was a period there after Christian left and before Randy Orton started to punt people that I just didn't really care much for anything. There were some things here/there I liked but on the whole it was so goddamn boring and inconsequential.

IMO the 3 worst Wrestlmania all took place in Chicago. Dang. I'm trying to argue this, but I.....can't.

It's one thing to go back and watch it now, but watching Edge/Foley live was an edge of your seat type experience. They would never do a match half that scary at a house show.

Despite how much I hate how they shoehorned Triple H into the main event over Edge. I really liked this show. I thought it had the perfect atmosphere for the show.
Sure there are a few clunkers in the pillow fight match and Boogeyman stuff, but overall they don't stand out so badly compared to the fluff they shoved into Mania 23 for example.
The pacing is good, the big matches feel big. It was the last time the Women's title match meant a damn. I really have very little negative to say about this show.

22 is the best of the 20s, IMO. 27 being the worst.
HHH/Cena, MITB, Mickie/Trish, Edge/Foley, Orton/Rey/Angle, HBK/McMahon. All very entertaining in their own way. HHH/Cena felt huge, too. I originally hated HHH losing, but looking back it made the show much more memorable.
The period from Edge cashing in at NYR to One Night Stand was really good, and the rest of the year was decent at absolute least. I really liked 06...
