I'm kinda over Colt. The new Sydal one was great but the live ones are atrocious. And has he ever used a single listenable song as song of the week ever? You didn't like the Duggan/Douglas/Valentine one?

Greg Valentine was AMAZING.
I agree the live ones can be a bit rough when he has multiple people on the show at once. I think the last one turned out much better where he interviewed 3 different guys separately.

Buddy Landel just seemed full of shit, certainly when he said Miss Elizabeth was 300 pounds when she first met Randy Savage. His homophobic bullshit didn't help either.

So yeah, Colt had an episode with Vader, which I listened to. He told a story which I wasn't a fan of, flat out hated it. So he's wrestling against Jushin "Thunder" Liger, with wrestling legend. And at one point, Liger's mask is between his legs and Colt starts jerking it off. And the crowd popped huge for it, and Colt felt like, yeah, maybe funny can draw money. I felt that was incredibly disrespectful, and it was also being done to a babyface, which makes it worse and makes it seem as if he's trying to embarrass the other babyface.
I felt Colt believed in his mind that yeah, funny can draw money, they reacted so well. Well, literally anyone could have done that and got the same reaction. That took zero talent to get a crowd reaction by trying to grab the lowest common denominator and get a "heh heh heh, because it looks like a penis" type of dumb joke. He proved Jim Cornette right, and like, if I was running a show, I don't know if I would book Colt. Colt seems like someone who just wants to do what he wants, and at his young age, it's like he's a crotchety old veteran. I feel like, I would always have wanted to book Colt, because he's over with the fans, but if he pulls stunts like that, is he really worth it? Jim Cornette, like, he's always talked about booking Colt, but he told Davey Richards that if Colt pulls stunts like that on you, don't take it from him. And I thought, well, maybe you shouldn't book him against Davey, or he wouldn't make another babyface look stupid. And there you go. Lost a lot of respect for Colt with that.
I do have some disagreement with Jim Cornette, because I truly do believe that Colt Cabana can draw money if used properly, but I think for that to happen, Colt would need to work with the promotion itself and they would have to work together and Colt maybe would have to let go of some of the creative reigns, because sometimes he just can't help himself to do something he thinks will be funny.

I wouldn't say "anyone could have done that." Colt's character is an alternative comedy type, a type of character which doesn't have much precedence in the medium. As dumb as the joke may be read or heard in audio, it might be the type of gag that needs to be seen to really hit. So much of Colt's style is timing, of which he excels at, and unless we've actually seen the spot, I don't think it's something we can really judge just by hearing/reading it.
I don't see how he's proving Cornette right at all.

But like, I think anyone really could have done that. At a local indy show, any guy on the card could have done that and it would have elicited the same reaction. And like, I could see it in some way if Liger was a heel. I went to Japan and saw Liger live at a New Japan show at Korakuen Hall and Liger was pushing around the referee, and attempting to be a heel, and the crowd was having none of it. They had their Liger ears and were cheering everything the man did. The man is so revered and so respected, that he can never be heel. So you do a comedy spot where you try to embarrass the beloved veteran babyface so you can get a cheap pop that anyone would get given the circumstances. Anyone could pretend to be jacking off and get some type of reaction. If Colt took a shit in the middle of the ring, it would get a reaction too, but that doesn't mean it takes talent. Plus, if you're in a wrestling contest, why would you do that in the first place. I can see Colt f***ing with a cocky heel and people laughing at that, but this is against Jushin "Thunder" Liger. Why would anyone do that? Like, if you had a guy in an armbar and someone starts jacking off the arm. You'll always get a reaction out of that. And what I feel it does in proving Cornette right is, he can't really do much with Colt if there's a chance he'll go into business for himself and embarrass one of your babyfaces like that if he's booked against them. I mean, at least when Kevin Steen went rogue and swore on a pay per view when the office specifically told him not to do it orr when he was asked to lose weight and didn't, those didn't effect anyone else but Steen. With Colt, you have to tell him, don't embarrass the babyface, and this guy thinks that what he's doing is right and funny. Colt can be funny sometimes, and I think with the right direction and the right people in charge, he can draw really well and be a mega star. But I feel he needs to give a little to get a little. I feel one of the biggest factors of Colt not being a bigger success in wrestling is himself. He's such a great talent, one of the best in the world in my opinion. But I feel he's the one holding himself down a lot of the time.

Are we really sure that this, in any way whatsoever, embarrasses Liger?

Jacking off the guy's horn, if it's not embarrassing, it's at the very least incredibly disrespectful.

I enjoyed the Vader podcast very much. I'm not going to discuss jacking off Liger's horn.

Colt took a part of the iconic mask of Liger and pretended it was his penis and started jacking it off.

Does anyone remember what the training video was called that was mentioned on this week's episode? The one that's supposed to be so brutal?

I didn't listen to the show this week but I'm guessing they were talking about when Bob Holly beat the hell out of Matt Capotelli on Tough Enough.
