Depends on if Jacquelin Carlin was telling the truth about how their engagement/marriage went. If it is, then he's a scumbag. If not, then just an extremely prolific jerk.

James Cameron belongs on this list just because he tried to kill Ed Harris in the name of getting a "proper shot" in a movie that ended up being largely forgettable anyway. oh but he made Titanic and Avatar so he gets put on some kind of genius pedestal. seriously, f*** that guy.

I don't think a lot of these guys can broadly be painted with the scumbag brushstroke. Ian Rotten and maybe Lance Armstrong would fit the bill, but Chevy Chase and Kanye West are more jerks than anything. The likes of Jerry Sandusky are just flat out monsters.

I always find it strange when Chris Brown is mentioned in these sorts of lists and Charlie Sheen is not, considering the type of shit he's got in his closet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Chris Brown. I don't even like Chris Brown. But if you're going to mention one unrepentant domestic abuser, you might wanna also mention the unrepentant serial domestic abuser/drug abuser who, in some sick irony, is actually something of a cult icon these days.

Before the Rihanna incident, Chris Brown was widely regarded as a fairly clean cut teenybopper, whereas the general public already saw Sheen as a bit on the sleazy side at best. I think Brown's "heel turn" was especially jarring for a lot of people.

I mean if we are gonna hate on really scucessful athletes just becazuse they used drugs at some points, we're gonna have to hate a LOT of pros here. Especially if you're a wrestling fan.

Steve Irwin's widow and daughter are pretty much just following in his footsteps. They worked with him before his demise anyway, even when his daughter was just a little kid. I'd say they're keeping his memory and legacy alive, not exploiting it.

He left his wife, who stuck by him the entire time he was suffering from cancer, in order to bone Sheryl Crow. And he's a real douchebag and miserable person. His being thought of as a scumbag predates his being caught doping. Cycling is a ridiculously dirty sport anyway.

It's not the juicing, or in the cyclist case: doping, that makes him a scumbag. It's the flat out lying about said doping, to the point where he would file litigation against anybody and everybody who would take that public, that people despise him for. Also add onto that, using his chemically enhanced persona to pretty much screw over the government and the USPS for over 8 figures, more millions for his organization, Livestrong even after he had been exposed as the liar and the fraud that he was, and also there's that little matter of infidelity against Sheryl Crow. So bilking nearly a billion out of everybody, cheating on multiple fronts to stay ahead, and the frivolous lawsuits of it all. That's scumbag material.
