The biggest hypocrites I have encountered recently.
Please hear me out here. I'm not trying to invoke anything political in this.
I love shows about weaponry. American Guns and Sons of Guns were my two favorite shows on at the time.
Now in the wake of certain mass shootings, Discovery canceled American Guns (A show that was mostly about building and buying customised semi-auto and manually operated firearms that are perfectly legal to own in most states.
Now that sucks, but I can understand the emotional rationale behind it for all I disagree with it.
HOWEVER... Discovery keeps Sons of Guns a show about the building, restoration and sale of not only fully automatic weapons, but on occasion also deals in heavy artillery, and on occasion even flamethowers, is allowed to remain on the air.
It sounds to me like they're having their cake and eating it too. And since no one else seems to be calling them out on it. I figure I will.
Sorry, but I needed to get that off my chest.

Plus the owners of the shop on Sons of Guns have gotten in trouble for various things. Last year they lost 8 or so fully automatic weapons. That is why officially now the guy with the Jeff Hardy sideburns owns the shop.

To be fair though, wasn't that scandal back in 2009 or so before they got their TV deal.

At least it's not Guntucky.
I'm still boycotting Discovery Channel until they air the episode of Mythbusters where they legit put a cannonball through a guy's house.

History channel is also hypocritical in a different sense: President's Day this year, and what do they play? An all day marathon of Ice Road Truckers.

I'm more concerned that the History Channel and (what used to be) the Learning Channel are more focused on reality shows than history or learning.
I'd also like to see the Disney Channel get back to showing some classic Disney stuff every now and then. Vault Disney was amazing, and they should absolutely bring it back.

Honestly I haven't watched the Discovery Channel since they cancelled Brew Masters two years ago and when I saw an Ad for a show called Amish Mafia I couldn't help but believe that the channel is not even trying anymore.

Now Mythbusters is a great example of the hypocrisy of Discovery Channel. Guns are freaking toys on the show and are used with glee.

They also had a show called "It Takes a Thief", where a former ex-con decided to see how companies protected their bottom line by breaking into them, and then would help them upgrade their security and try again. I actually would hope for the day they actually show the "Ultimate MythBuster" episode again, despite Jamie's disdain towards competition. At least it's not Guntucky. I don't expect that episode to appear in the "Season 9" collection of the show, however.

And did they own up to cannonballing this guy's house on the ep? I was without TV for several months last year. If you could get me a URL to the episode, I would love you even more than I already do for having Hanako in your avatar.

I think TLC takes the cake. When you label yourself "THE LEARNING CHANNEL" but put on nothing but tasteless reality TV shows that lower the IQ of your audiences something went horribly wrong.

They haven't called themselves The Learning Channel in years. But almost every channel has succumb to Channel Rot. Another reason I have given up on TV.

While Pawn Stars has SOME good information in it, a lot of the other shows are just awful mindless junk.

And damn I can't wait until they stop adding drama to Sons of Guns. Stop trying to make it something it isn't.

History did turn to junk but thankfully all the good stuff moved to H2 (former History International).
The Ultimate Mythbuster episode runs on Discovery Science, along with many other episodes from the first few seasons. Wouldn't mind a newer version that includes Tory, Grant and Kari though. Maybe two teams like in the MacGyver show. Really anything that doesn't end with them blowing shit up.
