A lot of people speaking in absolutes in this thread. Someone's not undisputedly boring because 'you' think so. They're just boring to you, personally. People need to learn the difference. Blanket statements are stupid.

Blanket statements are stupid. Amen. I said the EXACT same thing the other day. It's a matter of opinion on who you find boring etc. Same with who you think is the best wrestler. It's a matter of opinion. If someone doesn't share the same sentiments as you does that make them wrong...no.

Then is it wrong to say that maybe his character and push haven't seemed to connect with most audiences?

Then is it wrong to say that maybe his character and push haven't seemed to connect with most audiences? No, I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment. That's less opinion, and more fact; the fact being that he hasn't gotten the reactions one would hope for. But its impossible to quantify why that is, hence why I took issue with some labeling him as universally "boring". His problems could be because of any number of multiple reasons. There's been tons of great acts that came in just as cold. Steve Austin. HHH. Randy Orton. John Cena. But then they all found a niche when they were given both the ball and a character they could believe in and work with. I don't see why Cesaro (already the worker any of them were) couldn't find that same niche in time.

Sorry if this has been posted: That's what I heard too. HHH and a lot of the agents think he's amazing, because he's an old school NWA-esque guy who knows what he's doing. But a certain buck-toothed buffoon backstage with zero concept of wrestling, and who holds way too much sway, thinks he's boring and has Vince's ear. Hopefully Cesaro comes through it like Sheamus did -- the last victim of Kevin Dunn's warped wrestling view. He's pretty much the embodiment of Triple H's perfect wrestler really. Well, apart from himself. I do enjoy hearing Bradshaw gush about how great he is and what a throwback he is whenever he has a match.

Kevin Dunn should be depushed. I'm sure other employment opportunities exist where he can set off enormous numbers of pyrotechnics, without all that silly "wrestling" stuff getting in the way

And most expect Dunn to lose his job when Vince dies or steps down and Triple H & Steph take over.

Any semblance of Cesaro being boring is WWE's fault. No one would have gone to an ROH or CHIKARA show and left saying "damn, that Claudio guy was so boring!"
The star-prevent booking/writing is tough for the wrestlers to overcome when they're used to getting themsevles over and doing what they want/what they know works for them.

Just wait until the shipment of Triple H's new DVD/Blu-Rays all catch on fire and Kevin Dunn saves them. Welcome to another 20 years of pain.

My point is, they're really supressing his natural charisma and personality.

I have to agree with them...he is boring to me. Cesaro is about as thrilling as pulling up a chair outside and watching the grass and weeds grow. I'd rather do that than watch him. Everything about him is boring to me. He looks like an old man and his moves are pretty dull to watch. Even his finisher is boring.
Impressive that he can put big guys like Brodus Clay in it but still pretty boring.

His look is really bad I feel. Them putting the hat and sunglasses is kinda having a Malibu Stacy effect with me.

No, the trolls are people who speak as if their opinion is absolute fact, and disregard logic that pokes holes in their flawed and arrogant statements. G1megatronfan made it clear it was just his opinion, and gave reasons why he believes it. I don't necessarily agree (I think Cesaro has a kind of a Swiss Jason Statham look going on), but I respect his opinion and how he phrased it. There was no belligerency there.

Cesaro is one of increasingly few highlights on both shows. If it wasn't for him, Henry, Sandow and Rhodes, I wouldn't be watching. They're the life preservers in an ocean of crap.

An RoH technical match would probably get a boring from WWE fans. And something like wrestlers going in slow mo as I've heard has happened in Chikara was enjoyed by the fans, but I doubt many in WWE audience would appreciate it.

You guys always go back to the "technical wrestling" aspect, as if that's all indy fans like and that's all indy wrestlers do, like they don't interact with the crowd whatsoever. That is untrue. I'm talking about personality. The entrance, the facial expressions, the taunts, the antics in the ring, the pacing, all of it. It's obvious that they're telling him how to walk to the ring, when to taunt and what taunt to do, how to structure his matches, his whole demeanor, and he's just this blank slate by a disparate group of creative types all trying to please one head writer who's trying to please Stephanie who's trying to please the Triple H and Kevin Dunn and Vince McMahon and whoever else. It's all so controlled, micro-managed, and constantly messed with, and it just comes out this bland mash. His character has been garbage with a few exceptions, but I'm tellin ya, it's not his fault. He's a charismatic, unique guy, but he's been through the ringer.

But the fact is WWE audiences have a lot more people and a lot bigger cross section of people in the audience. You ever watch The Blues Brothers? They're good at the style of music they play. But they end up at a country and western/redneck bar and have to be afraid for their lives.

I know this decade has been about disguising the fact that WWE is wrestling, but that's what people pay to see. Cesaro is a good wrestler that can do it all and then some. He's as good as Bryan but unlike him, they won't change his character. They only keep adding to his Swiss gimmick. Foreign heels haven't got heat since who? Yokozuna? He's also not involved in any storylines. They're not letting him do anything that would make the crowd want to boo him other than making him lose all the time. Swagger was getting a bit of heat in the Del Rio feud. Cesaro was doing his liking America but not Americans routine at the time. Why not involve the two?
