Dave Meltzer has confirmed not only Traven and Watson, but also Anya. Funnily enough, the NXT Twitter account sent a tweet earlier today promoting Anya. Not exactly good dialogue between social media and head office there...

Percy Watson was doomed the moment they stripped away his "Showtime" persona and replaced it with nothing.

Awww not Anya, she must have been bad because you wouldn't think you could go wrong with a giant Russian with a legit kickboxing/martial arts background, the giant girls never seem to last long.

I keep saying it, but the format change of NXT really hurt Percy.
Even when they took away the flamboyant Eddie Murphy-esque gimmick, he was still Showtime in essence. He still had most of the mannerisms, and the OH YEAH taunt, with the added bonus of an awesome, unique, and very recognizable theme song. At least for a little bit, they at least tried. They gave him storylines on NXT, with the partnership and subsequent feud with Titus O'Neil. They even paired him with Alex Riley for a bit to try to rub off some of A-Ry's overness onto him. And then there was the aborted attacker storyline.
The problem is that once NXT Redemption ended and NXT became developmental, they just stopped trying with him, just as they did with Bateman. And they just dropped the ball by not even bothering to use him as an enhancement talent on the main shows.

I'm wondering if with them also releasing female talent, they're planning on hiring more female indy wrestlers like they're doing with the men.
Is it ok if I get my hopes up a little?

I don't watch NXT--haven't since the Diva season ended--but I will be pissed if Percy is released. That nerdy gimmick he had was just gold. Could have teamed him with Bateman and had quite the tag team.

The fact that they went out of their way to hire one of the best female wrestlers in the country to use as a trainer should mean something.

Percy and Bateman should have gotten a chance.
I mean, Bateman technically won NXT Redemption when Titus and Darren were called up as the PTP.
Also, pretty surprised about Briley being cut. Maybe there's more to that story, who knows.
Ah well, either way, time to edit colors in the Win-Loss records.

There are plenty of useless guys on the main roster who are likely making as much as all of these developmental guys combined. Seems to be more of a space-clearing move rather than cost-cutting.

Yeah, it means they don't think she's hot enough to use on the main roster as a wrestler.

can't say I'm completely surprised. you can't expect them to give all the *shudder* indy darlings they've been signing jobs without having to let some people go. pity they won't let go of some of the over-clogged stale-as-hell main eventers while they're at it (Orton, Miz and Swagger I'm looking at you) Yeah, why get rid of NXT guys that a lot of people haven't even heard of when you can get rid of very over big name stars like Randy Orton? Sorry, I can see what you're saying but what you just said was silly. Because Orton being released would free up an upper main-event slot, which would likely be filled by one or two upper midcard guys to see who best fills that role. By moving one or two upper midcard guys up, that gives the opportunity for three or four lower midcard guys to move up to fill the spot left by the upper midcard guys. Which, in turn, frees up more lower midcard spots to then be filled by developmental talent. Which, in turn, would free up spaces in developmental for new hires. Given that Orton's been on WWE TV for over a decade, won countless heavyweight titles, both won the Royal Rumble and main-evented Wrestlemania, what else can he do? Other than help put over the next generation of guys. But putting people over means nothing when Orton gets his win back over Cesaro or Barrett or whomever. This is the problem with today's even stevens booking. The same can be said for John Cena. By having the John Cenas and the Randy Ortons of the company stay on top, they aren't necessarily bringing in new fans, nor are they building up new stars. They might keep business stable, but is mere stability, just holding on so things don't get worse, a good business model? It depends, whether you're looking ahead to tomorrow or looking ahead 5 years from now. This is important because of today's saturation of wrestling on television, an almost ten year run as a main-event guy means that in TV years you've been going on for almost a generation. A younger guy on the cusp of being called up to the main roster has more potential upside (given how much he can contribute in 5-10 years) than an older guy who's tapped the full amount of his star value and who won't likely be around come the next 5 years. Top that off with Orton's perceived bad attitude backstage and wellness strikes, and there is a credible case why someone like Randy Orton should get released.

I'm really upset they released Audrey. First time I've ever let myself get attached to a wrestler that's in developmental. Boo. )=
