Apparently Mayweather/Pacquiao is being blamed for Avengers 2 not breaking the weekend box office record. I don't think Marvel are going to lose much sleep over that; considering it's still got the Chinese and Japanese markets to release to, short of a massive drop-off Age of Ultron should comfortably out-gross Iron Man 3 and Avengers.

Just got home from it, solid movie, I can't think of anything to complain about. I know comics Ultron was different but... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} him being basically an evil Tony Stark works, given his origin here. I'd say he surpassed Iron Monger as an Iron Man doppleganger. Also, using a whole city as a meteor to cause an extinction was pretty badass. Speaking of which... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} so how DID Tony get back to being Iron Man again? Are we pretending IM3 didn't happen, not that I'd blame them. Also, I know they take care to mention Jane and Pepper in their absences, but why has no one mentioned Betty Ross, moreso since Hulk and Widow are now a thing? I don't really remember Incredible Hulk, as I saw it just after seeing the original Iron Man, so... I wonder if... {Spoiler} Quicksilver died because, Fox? And... {Spoiler} I HAVE TO DO THINGS MYSELF.

I don't really remember Incredible Hulk, as I saw it just after seeing the original Iron Man, so... {Spoiler}If Ultron wasn't made by Tony, then I'd say his quipping would be out of place and a detriment to the character, as funny as some of his lines were. About Betty Ross, I'd assume that the fact they called the Hulkbuster "Veronica" might seem like a sort-of reference (Betty & Veronica). Can I also say how much I love that shot of Ultron sitting on a throne when revealing his new form after coming to life? An utterly badass shot, if I do say so myself. {Spoiler}

Speaking of which... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} so how DID Tony get back to being Iron Man again? Are we pretending IM3 didn't happen, not that I'd blame them. {Spoiler}Tony's motivation throughout the film is that he doesn't want to continue being Iron Man but he can't quite fully step away until he's found a way to make himself (and the Avengers) completely obsolete. He's got Jarvis running the Iron Legion, and Cap running the day-to-day Avengering, so one can assume that the missions to retrieve Loki's sceptre have been the only times he's suited up since the events of IM3. Of course, having some of this addressed would have helped but I imagine it'll appear in the extended cut.

Also: {Spoiler}Considering the plot point of them conducting several HYDRA raids looking for the Mind Gem/Loki's scepter, I think it's reasonable to assume he was pulled back into action by the fall of SHIELD and the return of HYDRA.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Star Wars doesn't even beat out the final Hunger Games installment.

Saw it twice in the theater, thoroughly enjoyed the movie. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}They didn't expressly say Pietro died. I tried to catch what they said his super-powers were the second time around but missed it. I think they heavily, heavily implied he died but left it open enough that he could make another appearance. I hope he does, but doubt it. They spent far too long explaining that Amadeus Chos's mother's box could heal grave wounds for it not to lead somewhere {Spoiler}It did lead somewhere though: the building of Vision.
The fact that they need to rush Hawkeye back for treatment established that the patient needs to be alive for the machine to be any use, and Quicksilver is clearly very much dead.

If the buzz and the reviews are strong enough, I see Force Awakens finishing in the 800-850 million range globally.

Rock solid movie. Not as good as Guardians of the Galaxy or Winter Soldier but, still good. I will say that the appearance of a few of Joss Whedon's worst writing habits(i.e the forced romance and the ungodly excessive amount of snark) make me happy that he's being replaced after this.

Was it me, or did anyone take the "The sun is going down" bit as a nod to the Hulk's first origin? (in reverse, of course, as Banner initially BECAME the Hulk at nighttime)

Also, Downfall parody fans will be happy to see FEGELEIN in the movie.

It was very fun, but it is one of those movies where the more it sinks in, the more you think about how great it could have been instead of how good it was.
Also, Age of Ultron?
More like Ultron and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Couple of Days

Got back from it few hours ago, extremely entertaining. All the new characters were great (Vision, the twins) I think Ultron could've fought more. Really enjoyed Quicksilver, his interaction with Hawkeye were really funny. {Spoiler}Him dying Was some bullshit ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) , but i get why they did it. It'd be kinda boring if nothing happens to any character. Btw i like the running gag of Hulk hitting the main villian in a funny way. I busted out laughing at Ultron saying FOR GOD'S SAKE NOT YOU AGAIN! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I just saw it a few hours ago. I really liked most of it, except the romance subplot.

I thought it was easily the worst thing about the movie. It came out of nowhere and the writing of it was stilted and weird. "They're both f***ed mentally! They should be in love I guess!"

Anyone else get the feeling from it that the only MCU film Whedon has seen is the original Avengers? There was some good stuff in there, but I felt like he just hadn't paid attention to any of the character arcs.

It came out of nowhere and the writing of it was stilted and weird. "They're both f***ed mentally! They should be in love I guess!" And there's also the fact they work together and often have to protect one another, and are apparently good friends off the field. I think the acting helped a lot, but there was way more to their connection than them just both being misfits (like everyone else on the team, to be fair).
