Well that was a real bad drop on my end. Hopefully being restricted to a select few artists will help me bounce back. EDIT: On the other hand, great job Knalsic from going from last to second in one round flat. Thanks Spartan.(this is actually the 2nd time this has happened, I came in 2nd after being in the sing-off in the Evolution round) Hope you do better next round because I'd to see you go. (though I'd hate to see anybody left go) Also I'm hoping I get one of the artist I sent because I choose some of my all time favorites.

I'm really surprised at the Band/Musician repeated - in that good surprised kind of way. Didn't expect someone else to suggest them.
@ Brad - Yeah it was, Money.
@the theme - I went user friendly-ish, but I almost felt like trolling with a guilty pleasure musician/band I enjoy, but know other people don't so much. Just the idea of opening the Pm and seeing that name there, lol. I didn't though. I decided to be nice, like you all.

Pm's about to be sent.
Since it's back a page, this is what we are asking from the contestants for Round 26(reworded slightly to communicate better):
Contestants are to send in 3 songs, two of which must be from two artists from the list given to them or two songs that are covers of songs originally recorded by two of those artists. The 3rd song can either be from the third artist on the list or an artist of the contestant's choosing that has not been used thus far this Season.
Any questions, please let me know.

Be Like That- 3 Doors Down
Really really don’t like this band. But I really don’t mind this song at all. I really appreciate the thought process too with the round’s category, so that wins big with me as well. I’m always impressed to find where some contestants’ mindsets take them. Really shows quite a music library to have go-to songs for such an occasion. Well done here with this song, which fits nicely into the category, and heck, for this listener, it kinda gives the song a new perspective for me, because I find the band so bland with just about every listen. It’s kind of reintroducing 3 Door Down to me here. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Gives You Hell- All-American Rejects
Again, love the thought process. Just don’t love the band. I do want to give credit where credit is due in recognizing your ability to dig through a song library and pull this out for the occasion. As a standalone track, it’s not all that influential on me as a listener. It’s the kind of track on Rock Band that I just want to play through as quickly as possible so the band can see what song lies ahead next. I think of songs like this as kiddie bait, a song that reaches out to young listeners and has that universal appeal that I sometimes just find bland and manufactured. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Contact High- Architecture in Helsinki
Man, if there is one thing we’ve learned from this competition this season, it’s that the music video as a communications medium is not dead. Another winner in terms of video production and creativity. The band at times reminds me of Maroon 5, if Maroon 5 was consistently good. To me, a lot of captivating stuff going on all throughout the song. I “eek’ed” a bit during the first run of that chorus (this is the first time I’ve heard this song actually, which is unusual considering the number of views it has) but it worked on a second and third visit following the subsequent verses. Overall, I think it’s a well done pick and one that I’ll have to give a listen to after the competition is over. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A Little Piece of Heaven - Avenged Sevenfold
This should totally be The Undertaker’s new theme. It certainly wouldn’t take him any longer to get to the ring with this than it does now with his current theme. The song is a fine mix of allure and grating. Lyrically, I really can’t get behind some of the elementary-like verses, but the overall package works very well for what the song is trying to achieve. It’s an adventure, and it’s a little bit (to me) on the experimental side of the genre. In some ways, cutting edge stuff. I can appreciate what the overall intended effect is and the lengths that it goes to achieve it. I just wish some of the verse structures weren’t so lazy at times. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Money (That's What I Want)- Barrett Strong
There was a “money” song that I thought would get used, so I ‘m grateful you didn’t go with that one. This one is a much better choice. Classic, and it’s a song that still works. It’s a reminder of where modern music can sometimes miss. I think greed is one of the two easiest “sins” to find songs for, but I didn’t really expect this track, so very well done. That’s some real soul in the vocals. It’s really what makes the whole song. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Summertime Blues- Eddie Cochran
I LOVE that you went with Sloth here. I wanted someone to do that. It just happened to fall on a song that I don’t care a whole lot for. As bad as I hate to admit it (because I think this is a weak excuse) but the Alan Jackson cover really ruined it for me. As a standalone piece, I’m good with it, but it just aggravates me that someone made it more famous with an inferior version. I love the paint-strokes of the guitar and how it adds color to each line of the song. It’s a great little call and response technique that gives the song its engine to run off of. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Been Caught Stealing – Jane’s Addiction
Love love love some Jane’s Addiction. (And still way bitter about judges’ comments from three or four seasons ago that this is the only Jane’s Addiction song anyone should know. Weak.) Like the song before it, it’s a fun little song that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s got a unique vocal melody that’s really hard to duplicate. Always comes across as imitation if someone attempts it. The lead singer’s voice is so unique as well; it’s just a clever package that works wonders for me. Of course, most people remember the video. I never cared all that much for it, but I get its appeal. Let’s not forget to close out the comments section without giving major props to the instrumentation. Most people would argue this is what makes the song click. I certainly wouldn’t be able to argue with that. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jealous Guy- John Lennon
Geez, people. Get off The Beatles kick. Two George Harrisons, two Beatles, and now this. Yeah, they’re good, as a band and as individual artists. Can we move on now? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alfie- Lily Allen
Love this! Brilliant connection to the category. A pick less likely and a “sin” less likely. This nails the creativity it takes to go all the way in a competition like this. It’s got a highly ironic vocal that meshes well with the message and lyric of the song. It’s kind of a “kill ‘em with kindness” approach where you can just imagine the singer saying all these things through gritted teeth. Man, I love this song. Just a great approach to the round, like I said. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Little Baby Nothing- Manic Street Preachers
I really really didn’t expect this band to make another late round surge like they did when used once before. I think my reaction here falls in the same lane as what happened before. A welcome pick to the round for sure that really digs deep into the musical knowledge well. I like the words and delivery. The video stands out as well. Pretty much everything going on here clicks with me. A well-put together song and one that doesn’t sound like anyone else. I love it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It Wasn't Me - Shaggy
Wow. I mark for this! Shaggy making his debut! The kind of artist you shouldn’t overuse, but when you pop it at just the right time, it works out great! Consider this good timing! It’s a perfect song for the category. A great way to draw attention to itself too since it’s genre-specific and no one else is going that route this round. I was dreading the amount of cheap hip hop songs that would pop up in this particular category, but this is shying far away from generic. I like what you did here, and I’m smiling ear to ear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mother Mother- Tracy Bonham
Yes! Heck yes! Give me some Tracy Bonham! I was singing this song before I could even get the link loaded in the YouTube window. Love this pick. Did not have expect it either! Great era of music to pull from and you’re really showing off that musical prowess I speak of every so often. This pick rocks my socks, and I’m just sitting here with jaw dropped that you went there. Really cool!!! A staple from the tail end of easily one of the best time periods of music. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do to Me - Trombone Shorty
And somewhere hovering over us, Jazzman sheds a solitary tear. Love the instrumentation here, but I’m not much on the vocal delivery OR on the song content itself. Nothing against a good lust song, but it’s a little bit linear and arbitrary. Not all songs have to have lyrical genius. But it does rely on the lyrics enough to have to have more from them than what I get here.
**********************************************8 RANKINGS:
1. Alfie- Lily Allen 2. Been Caught Stealing – Jane’s Addiction 3. Mother Mother- Tracy Bonham

They're kind of an acquired taste, I think (due to the vocals, if I had to guess), but they definitely have some great songs. I was a little nervous that this one would be too obvious, actually, so I'm glad it did well.

Tyger: When this round is over, can you say who sent out which artists and which poster ended up getting them? Because I think it'd be cool to see where all of our picks ended up.

The six remaining contestants were on lock down to safe guard them from Demented and his ghastly surprises. But surprise them he did. Knalsic Loves to Boogie received a box with a curious looking disco ball. Thinking that it was innocent enough, Knalisic picked it up, causing it to play this song incessantly: Quack quack, wherever he went, quack quack. Trying to sleep, Knalisc heard ducks; looking for songs for this Round, he heard quacking subtly intermixed with the melody of every song he listened to. The disco ball would follow him, floating in the air and shining down sparkly light, causing the Boogie Knight to dance a bit despite any inconvenience that would cause. Eventually, Knalisic was able to give the disco ball to one Disco Inferno, who proudly displayed the disco ball in his cheesy, 70's style condo, near his neon painted bar, bedecked with faux zebra and leopard skins, playing incessantly for the former WCW superstar for whom the party never stops. Anonymous GM found a box addressed to her with a note saying, "FAN Idol lady, I don't know your name, cause your Anonymous, but here's your box. From Demented to Anonymous, who I don't know. Since she's Anonymous. I don't know her face, with the mask and the face paint. Anonymous. She's won FAN Idol before but I can't see her face in the Past Season's Photos. Anonymous. Without a Name, a Face. Is it Hornswoggle? Katie Vick who's actually alive? The Biggah Pictah? Who's in the Limo? I'm in the limo but I'm not a member of the New World Order. Is Anonymous Hulk Hogan? Linda Hogan? Will she take 70% of my earnings away too? Does she know who she is? Anonymous, hmmm Anonymous aren't we all...." And so it continued, accompanyed with this painting: Sloth Spartan's box contained a diorama depicting the Battle of Thermopylae as fought between the Persian Army and the Greeks, eventually coming down to Xerxe's massive force versus 300 Spartans that stayed to hold off the encroaching band. Demented left a note that parodied a quote from Greek Historian Herodotus, stating that: "Here they tucked themselves in to the last, those who still had pillows using them, and the others resting with their blankets and sleeping bags." Demented made a crude drawing of a massive army of well armed and armored Persians, unit after unit, with incredulous looks on their faces as they found the Spartan army asleep on the battle field, depicted as Sloths, with big smiles from ear to ear as they slept their way into fame. One sloth, had a thought bubble that said "Tonight, we sleep in hell!" as he snored away. Demented noted that main sloth was Leonides, Spartan General, saying that "That's You too, Sloth Spartan!" fw91's box was simply made of pine wood without painting or staining and contained a terse note from Demented: "Fw (forward): Your friends. Demented." fw91 received countless e-mails, facebook messages, and letters from his friends and family asking why he sent them a pine wood box with a terse note that said "Fw (forward): Your friends. Demented." Who was this Demented, they asked and why was the box forwarded to them? Things really started to get out of control when fw91's friends discovered that the box was forwarded to their friends with a terse note that said "Fw (forward): Your friends. Demented." Eventually, some 45,000 people possessed such a box; somehow, WWE Zack Ryder received a box and sent it back to fw91, with a note stating: "You're my Browski! Thanks for the box, I can put my spray tanner in it! WWWYKI!" Host KingOrangeTyger was sitting in his FAN Office, silently tapping a mysterious Cube that he received from Demented: He had a few guests that afternoon before the contestants sent him their songs. Roxie Daggers complained that Demented sent her a box containing a video tape showing her performing in a Canadian Mall in 2002 that vaguely resembled the 80's. Miss Daggers was called Roxie Sparkles in the video and performed a bubble-gum pop song next to an Orange Julius called "Tag Me In" where she sang alongside Los Guerreros, who brought in their low rider that bounced up and down with Lie, Cheat and Steal written in pink spray paint on the hood and Edge and Rey Mysterio, who free styled terribly, rhyming masks with whacks, Edge beat boxing and looking like he would rather be anywhere else (even Chyna) then at the Mall. She was perfectly aghast and wanted the Host to destroy the video at once, lest her pop past come back to haunt her. Stinger4Christ brought a box filled that contained a pamphlet that showed little Stingers how to paint their face like former NWA/WCW and current TNA Megastar Sting, circa his blond surfer stage. It contained a few make-up tubes and some powder accompanied by with instructions that showed a few successfully painted kids and adults. Demented also took a few photos that showed him painting his face up like Sting but his make-up came out garish and wrong, akin to Heath Ledger's Joker and the late Matt Borne's later Doink and Borne Again gimmick days. Hearing their complaints, the Host continued to tap the Cube, evidently not paying attention to what was said. Frustrated, the two Fan Idol contestants left, grumbling about not having to stand for this abuse and "I bet next Season will be hosted by someone that will actually take care of their talent" and so on. Contemplating the Cube, KingOrangeTyger spent another half hour at his desk, until his final guests arrived. The light in his office went out and a strange illumination entered as a creeping man, like a lizard come out of the swamp, arrived, his two enormous charges in tow: A haunting song began to play, "Catching flies in his mouth, tasting freedom while he dares." The Host looked upon the Wyatt Family, surprised that WWE would send the guest Host so soon. Two enormous men, one wearing a lamb's mask and what appeared to be a sack, the other deranged and rambling to himself in a white, slightly stained T-Shirt accompanied Mr. Wyatt, who smiled, a glint in his eye, a fedora askance on his head. Something was not right, as KingOrangeTyger was familiar with Bray Wyatt. He looked different, like a new man, like a man on the verge of great, terrible things. Grinning, Wyatt turned to the Host, Harper and Rowan standing stock still and breathing deeply, and blew out the lamp, saying "We're Here." Noooooooo. *starts prepping for sing off* Haha, I can't believe people used so many songs I'd pick myself this round. That's like some of the exact songs in my playlists. Very impressed with how people dealt with this curve ball of a Round.

{Spoiler} A few comments 1: Even though one of my picks (Bob Dylan) wasn't used my others two were and with great songs! 2: I do like my picks but I'm a little worried since two my favorite songs by AC/DC and CCR were picked (seriously the Bagpipes on "Long Way To The Top" are killer)

Waiting on judges, please give them plenty of time. I'm going to reveal Round 27's theme now. As we will be down to just five contestants, it's time to start running the Gauntlet (fw91 shot the food!). We're getting closer and closer to the end and the contestants will have truly, without a shadow of a doubt, earned a spot among the final four if they can survive the next two Rounds. So, the theme for Round 27 is... (The Monsters left behind by Noah's Ark in Fantasia 2000) Round 27: The Island of Misfit Genres: Part IChoose 4 Songs, 1 Each, for these Genres that have often been overlooked in FAN/WC Idol Seasons over the years: PunkJazz Electronic Music and Gospel A few notes: All four genres do not have to be set in a specific time period or nationality. Punk may have originated in the 70's in urban areas like London and New York but contestants can choose any sort of music that falls under the umbrella term "Punk"; for that genre, we will also accept Goth Music and other subgenres that grew alongside it. The same thing applies to Jazz. I will relax the "one artist, one song" rule slightly for this Round in terms of Jazz; Jazz is a genre where, at least in it's principle time period, everyone collaborated, so I'm only going to count musicians the song is attributed to. So, John Coltrane can play on a Miles Davis song as well as his own song but you cannot have two John Coltrane songs where he's credited as the Main musician in the Round. Electronic Music, which was used for the Bonus Round, has made its return and has a deep history since the late 60's. Finally, Gospel can extend into any music of Faith; typically, it's Christian music but, for this Round, music of other faiths are more than welcome; again, for this Round, we will open up the perimeters a bit in terms of subgenre, so Gospel can be rock, electronic, hip-hop, and so forth. Traditional Gospel, in all its different flavors, is certainly encouraged as well. The winner of Round 27 will be able to send in an additional song for Round 28.

I added a note about Jazz in regards to the "One Artist on one Song per Round" rule. In its heyday, Jazz musicians collaborated with each other constantly to the point where one song could potentially remove six or seven musicians from the Round. So, what I'll do is only count the main musicians the song is attributed to and, in case of Quintets and Sextets, etc. I will only count that specific ensemble as being used. So John Coltrane can only be used once as the main musician but someone else could also use a Miles Davis song that he played on for the Round; if someone picked Bud Powell, who played with virtually everyone, that eliminates essentially the entire time period that he played in. We want variety but there is no reason to make this Round impossible to play. This may come up in some of the genres but I feel this to be especially true to Jazz.

Punk - Pegasuswarrior Jazz - Widow's Peak Electronic - J Gospel - Strong Brad Metal (already done) - Orange
=P
Edit: I've already exhausted most of the songs I'd use for these themes (except for Electronic, because I have lots of those) so this will be a pretty tough round. Punk, I know is a picky one due to the thought of "not genuine punk" being an issue with a judge or two, otherwise I'd have several songs to pick from. Gospel is tough to be 'original' (BUT I think I've found something in my playlist that might fit. Even if it'll be a little weird for the theme) in and Jazz is cool, just don't regularly listen.

Amazing that you know the judges that well though . That's spectacular.
