With Bryan on fire (even more so) at the moment I would have loved for him to be in the match with Jericho vs Punk in a number 1 contender triple threat match. The three of them could have an epic triple threat match together in my opinion and they could have really shown and elevated Bryan in the match.
This card is shaping up really well though and depending on what match Shield/Bryan, WHC etc it could get even better. It looks promising at the moment though

This PPV is about two weeks away and there is still no word on the World Heavyweight title scene. Not a single indication to what's going to happen. Because what? At Payback, they're gonna make Del Rio face Big E Langston for no reason? Right-o. If Dolph's not gonna be back in time, they should have Big E defend his title in his stead. To make things interesting at least. Because if Big E loses, Dolph comes back and claims he never really lost it. I'm guessing it's because they don't know the status of Ziggler yet, otherwise yeah i could see Big E defending the title for Ziggler against Del Rio.

I like Jericho, but I think he should leave after Payback. This match with Punk just reeks of trying to keep Jericho busy. The thing I never really liked about Jericho's returns is that they always start off hot with a bang, and then when Jericho is done feuding with the guy he came back to put over, it peters out, and he just ends up becoming another one of the Inner Circle guys that Creative has to struggle to find something for him to do because he's "too important to not be doing anything" which ends up doing nothing for anyone.

This match with Punk just reeks of trying to keep Jericho busy. I'd say it feels more like they want to rush Punk back in time for the PPV in Chicago, so they're putting him against an experienced, safe veteran who he already has experience working with. Not to mention a guy over enough that he won't be hurt when the crowd boos him in favor of Punk (who is still the heel here, technically, though probably not for much longer).

I think there's so much more he could be doing aside from this meaningless feud with Punk. Why can't he challenge Ambrose for the US Title? Why can't he put on a great match with Cesaro? If you take out Sheamus, what about a feud with Sandow? Similarly, why should Wade Barrett be stuck in a crummy 3-way feud when Jericho's just hanging around, with the potential for a feud based on their NXT past?

So hopefully DBry goes over Orton at the PPV now? I think that actually he gets to face Ryback in a very hyped rematch after he (Ryback) loses in the main event. Maybe a #1 contenders match for the WHC, hopefully. I think Dbry gets the win to a huge reaction. He was SOOOO close last time, and didn't even take the loss. Ryback proved that the LaBell lock and headbut won't finish it...he has been bringing out some ROH moves...I think he submits him with cattle mutilation!
He will be over as hell in Chicago. Maybe this match happens at MITB, in Philly, and that move/result would get a MASSIVE reaction!!!

I'm hoping the Punk/Jericho match isn't a bait and switch. That's a huge selling point for me and I'll be pissed if I spend 40+ dollars for a Michael McGillicutty match.

Legitimate question, how many times in WWE history has a match been promoted for a Pay Per View and then not happened.

So hopefully DBry goes over Orton at the PPV now? If this really is setting up an Orton heel turn the way everyone's hoping, the first Orton/Bryan match is ending with either Orton completely annihilating Bryan, or Orton losing via rollup and THEN completely annihilating Bryan.

I'm fine with this. At this point, Bryan is pretty much the #2 face by default, so imo Orton needs the heel turn more than Bryan needs the "super push".

Legitimate question, how many times in WWE history has a match been promoted for a Pay Per View and then not happened. I'm assuming you mean a match that's still announced as happening up to the point it's due to happen on the PPV itself, as opposed to the broader definition of one that had been booked but changed later on before the PPV airs. The most recent example would be Tons Of Funk/Funadactyls v Rhodes Scholars/Bella Twins from WrestleMania this year.

Cena/Ryback Ziggler/Alberto Barrett/Miz/Fandango Kaitlyn/AJ? Punk/Y2J Orton/Bryan or Shield/Kane+Bryan+Orton? Sheamus/Sandow? HHH/Axel?

lol (special Kickoff to Payback Match). So because Sheamus is in it, it's not a pre show match, but a SPECIAL kickoff match

Sandow has been a featured regular on the main roster for a year, and this is his first singles PPV match.

...and this is on the pre-show why? I wonder if it means Sheamus will do something else at Payback. (Confrontation with Ryback during the Lumberjack bit of the match? Or with Orton when he goes full heel on Bryan or whoever?)
