I'm kinda having the feeling Quack was starting to experience severe burnout (both in wrestling and booking) these past two years and did this angle basically to take a long rest while still keeping it going. Then shit, he should have handed it off to somebody else and just left while he rested up. This is just getting ridiculous now. I would've been all for it if they would've taken the summer off, and during the FIRST Icarus meet-up, Wink and Condor would've stopped things which would have led to other CHIKARA members coming out to support him. Not this "MysteriumP" bullshit. I love this company to death. You've seen it. But call me when they decide to you know...actually do something. Christ, I've seen better bookings in e-feds.

Oh, I'm not saying I like it. I'm with Djm in wanting them to actually get the ball rolling soon and stuff, I was just thinking that's why this happened. Also, I don't think he would have handed it to someone else, knowing what a control freak he is.

If I may change the subject slightly for a moment...
The wife and I were telling my brother about Chikara, and he seemed really intrigued. He's not a wrestling fan (the last show he watched on his own free will had Mankind on it), so I'm looking for shows that are more story heavy. What shows should I recommend?

I love CHIKARA. CHIKARA is what is keeping my love of the wrestling genre alive. But this really needs to start picking up steam. Kevin Steam?

So the next Ashes teaser has shown up, but not in the usual place. This was dropped off in a 101 poster's Dropbox. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEqueHhHd0YAlong with a few quick recaps, it provides a little context for the two most recent teasers.

If what some current and former CHIKARA talents' words are to be believed, Kingston & Icarus and Mantis help with the booking. Or, helped till this. And, have for several seasons now.
So, if that was the case, you'd think Quack could've taken a step back and let them flex their creative muscles a little more. Something as simple as letting them know the general direction they needed to take things in and then let them fill in the smaller details would've worked.
But, as Amigo said, I think Quack's too much of a control freak to do that. I get the impression their helping of the booking is shooting ideas off of Quack and Quack shooting ideas off of them. With Quack getting the final say and doing the majority of the work.
Personally...while I'm not crazy about the storyline, I'm not upset like others are or feel it needs to do some major movements. I don't know, call me weird, but I've been relatively okay with the pace it's been going at. It's definitely interesting, and different, if nothing else. Least for me.

I can't help but think John Stamos has something to do with all of this. especially since management has been trying to destroy The Colony. and everyone knows Jesse Katsopolis was employed as an exterminator.

He's not a wrestling fan (the last show he watched on his own free will had Mankind on it), so I'm looking for shows that are more story heavy. What shows should I recommend? Start with High Noon. It was their first iPPV and the culmination of a bunch of angles, so you have some fun promos and recap montages before each of the matches. It also ends with the crowning of the first Chikara Grand Champion.

I'd suggest avoiding the King of Trios shows like the plague too, till he's a fan. Because those are usually some of the more wrestling heavy shows of the seasons.
Really, most of the tournaments apply. Though the YLC typically has at least one or two small developments during the course of the shows. In the case of one particular tournament I'm thinking about, it had one that would have a ripple effect going all the way till the end of CHIKARA. That being the night Tim Donst turned on Hydra and, mercifully, ended the Sea Donsters.

You know, I've only watched Youtube clips of CHIKARA, might nab a couple of DVDs eventually. But from what I can tell, judging from the posts from this forum and social media, I'm going to assume that this most CHIKARA storylines are all a bunch of wibbly-wobbly timey-Winky

Just this current storyline. BTW, to Dragonfly...show this to your brother. He might like this, since this is very story heavy, and it'll fill him in.

King of Trios gives you a huge sense of the crazy gimmicks and characters, and that's where they really push them to the extreme. That aspect of the storylines is best served by King of Trios. Plus, within each match and within the tournament, there's very clear storylines. They're typically incredibly well booked, in that regard.

On the plus side, this angle does seem to be making minor celebrities out of FAN members through their various exploits, ranging from arena destruction to sign management. Or sign mismanagement to be exact, we are why Chikara can't have nice things Well...us & that damn darn Eye of Tyr.

I have to say, the acting in these videos continues to up with each one too. Icarus is really showing why he's been underrated as a talent for so long with this. And, he's really selling the transformation from the lowest of the low that he's been for so long into the tragic martyr he's quickly becoming for this story. Chuckie was pretty awesome too, to his credit. Really made the piece all the more soul crushing to watch.

Next Ashes video will go up on 10/14, and it will be titled "Thwarted". I wonder if we'll still be following Icarus, go back to the Colony, or move on to someone else.
This one was heartbreaking. I was just waiting for Icarus to deck the bearded guy.
