FINALLY OFFICIAL - Major League Baseball has suspended Alex Rodriguez up to the end of the 2014 season, totalling 211 games. MLB @mlb Alex Rodriguez suspended 211 regular season games through 2014 for violating Joint Drug Prevention & Treatment Program & Basic Agreement. ...and he's appealed, so he plays tonight for the Yankees against the White Sox. How long does the appeal process usually take? Dude is 38 he could conceivably retire before his suspension takes effect if he plays his cards right.

Their third base production has been miserable since Kevin Youkilis pretty much has spent the entire season on the DL. A-Rod would be a huge improvement. Honestly a guy hitting at the Mendoza line that can hit a home run or two would be an improvement at this point.

[quote author=" The Captain" source="/post/9873098/thread" timestamp="1375732364" Gotta be honest, I giggled when the Yankees signed him. There was a reason that he really had zero intrest from anyone other than NY

A-Rod will officially be able to play for the rest of this season. The appeal process begins in November/December.

I'm guessing the appeals process will bring the suspension down to the entire 2014 season.

When was the last time A-Rod even played? Dude has already sat out like an entire year and a half. What more do they want from the guy? We know he took steroids, they suspended him already. How much more of an example does this nutjob Selig need to make? and im a Yankee fan and I think its sick how they mistreat this guy by making him jump through a million hoops hoping he gets suspended so they dont have to pay him. f***ing disgrace.
I would love to see how Steinbrenner would have handled it. RIP Boss.

Well he would be stupid to do that because the Yankees still owe 21 million in 2017

I know it'll be reduced, and I am NOT an A-Rod fan, but I go back to my earlier post. "Save baseball, Alex, erase Bonds from the record books!" and "Earn that contract you money grubbing bastard" all at the same time is bi-polar as hell.
He's not the first to cheat, nor is he the first to dodge his cheating, hide his cheating, or even gloat over his cheating. Some people have gleefully cheated and made the Hall of Fame.
211 games was as big a screw you as they could muster, and if Ryan Braun can lie, have a failed drug test thrown out, commit both perjury and slander, and get less than half of that as a suspension, then it makes zero sense.

Can we please drag Andy Pettitte to the barn? Please?
He might be worse than Phil Hughes.
Wait... no one's worse than Phil Hughes.
