Shit.
I think... I think I actually like Sean....
In that, "us jerks have got to stick together" way.
Shit....
If that isn't against the grain, I don't know what is!

What the crap is the difference between this thread and the Unpopular Opinions on TV/Movies?
My unpopular opinion is that this thread and others similar to it suck, because 90% of the posts in this thread and in threads is just people saying "I think (show or movie with a ton of fans) sucks." Without bothering going into detail about it, like why you personally hate or don't like it. Why you don't understand its popularity. What standards you have about story structure, writing and character development. These basically become useless just like threads we get that are just list threads which suck themselves try and leave no room for discussion whatsoever. If all you have to say about something popular is, "Well I don't like it one bit!" and nothing else, you're not stating an opinion; you're wasting time.

Almost as much wasted time as a guy who comes into a negative thread to complain about negativity. And this thread isn't the TV and Movie one. Some people have mentioned some entertainment stuff, true, but other things are being discussed and criticized as well. I, for example, have given most of my reasons for feeling the way I do about the things I mentioned. Don't lump everyone into the same category, please.

The US school calender needs to be longer. Summer vacation is outdated because it is based on the agrarian calender and around the hottest months of the year-we are not agrarian anymore and we have air conditioning in the modern day. Our nearest cultural neighbors in the UK, Canada, and Australia all have longer school calendars than we do. Summer vacation should be slimmed down to one month so that information will stay fresher in kids minds and teacher's won''t have to spend the first several weeks of the new school year re-teaching what was already taught the previous year. our summer vacation is 2 months. it just starts later than yours.

You don't see anything wrong with list threads and lazy posts?

- All fairplay sports and awards should be abolished. The fact is, not everyone is a winner. And by losing, you either learn or strive to get better, or you adapt and move onto something else you can maybe excel in. If everyone gets a ribbon and no one keeps scores, it creates false expectation of equality in the world, and sadly, the real working world is NOT like that. Sorry parents trying to create that illusion, some kids are simply better at certain things than little Timmy, and he needs to know that so he can grow and adapt. Because when he works one day, he will absolutely not be ready for the shit-storm of depression and shock he'll receive. I agree 100%. The recent 'Jeopardy' incident is a glaring example of kids not being taught to accept losing/making mistakes. We live in a world where every kid thinks they're special and that the rules don't apply to them, and it sucks. I fear for the next generation

I will take the current line up of the Smashing Pumpkins over James Iha, D'arcy Wretsky and Jimmy Chamberlin coming back, because at least Mike Bryne, Nicole Fiorentino and Jeff Schroeder actually look like they want to be there. People also forget so easily that it was Billy Corgan's baby from the start, and get fixated on this mythical version of the band that probably never existed. That said, I wouldn't mind if Zwan somehow reunited. So much wasted potential there. it's also worth noting that 9 times out of 10, Billy played all the guitars and bass on a given track and wrote the entire song by himself, often because James and D'arcy were too strung out to do it themselves (how the biggest druggie of them all, Jimmy, got past this problem is a riddle for the ages). Ringo Starr contributed more to the Beatles than James and D'arcy did to Smashing Pumpkins.

I found it kind of therapeutic to vent about some of the more annoying aspects of humanity these days.

A better example of a lead singer's death rocketing the band to bigger fame would be Sublime. Thank you!! Been saying that for a long time

The revisionist hatred for certian movies (Forrest Gump, Titanic) and TV shows (Friends) comes off as annoying and douchey.
A good 90% of whats on TV now is garbage and I would happily welcome a revert back to "cheesey" sit-coms of the late 80's and early 90s.
Will Ferrell's SNL tenure was great, but over the years managed to become really overrated.
Race relations in America are generally fine, but there lies a certian hypocrisy at times when it comes to what issues people get outraged about

if anything, I think kids spend too much time in school. a lot of the time you're not actually even learning anything, you're just wasting time.

Difference is this thread is about life, not just movies. Also, very few posts in this thread have just been I don't like ______. Most people have gone into quite a bit of detail explaining their opinions. I get your overall sentiment though.

I think Reddit has become an even more evil place than 4chan. I've seen some shit on that site that puts /b/ to shame, and unlike /b/ it isn't (mostly) played for laughs.

True, it just bugs me that the general opinion of Reddit is positive, whereas 4chan's is of a wretched hive. Nothing I've seen on 4chan has shocked me as much as the guy who had dead children and jailbait subreddits (with the community rallying to keep them open because "free speech!") and the AMAs with actual pedophiles.

Kids catch on to the fact that the kids that are actually good at shit get the bigger and better trophies. I knew I got purple ribbons on field day because I'm got good at sports. The brain dead crumb snatcher on Toddlers and Tiaras can tell the difference between the first place crown and the thanks for coming headband. Why can't you. Adults get far too turned up over kids having things they didn't have when they were growing up. If better flavors of push pops rock your world, you need to go have a seat and think about your worldview. Worst of all, these people are the first ones that go on and on about being thankful for what you have. How the hell are you going to teach people a lesson you haven't learned.

I never said kids aren't smart. I was actually saying the opposite. A large portion of youth today know that we're getting soft as a society and that acceptable ways of raising them 15-20 years ago aren't acceptable now. I'm going off of a lot of personal expirances. Kids these days feel entitled to the world and they throw a bitch fit when it isnt handed to them. They mirror what they see. They want it all but have no idea and no desire how to work for it
