The fact that he's willing to put any former employee into rehab and pay for it himself gets him a bye on his choosing of who wins what pretend fight.

He wanted to save us from Christians face, by making it a blue dot. How nice. Someone please explain this. Thanks in advance.

The story that I really like is how he called Bret Hart up almost immediately after he had his stroke in 2002. In spite of all the betrayal, bad blood, and bad feelings that the two still had between them, Bret says that as he was lying in the hospital, the nurse came in and plugged a hospital phone in next to him so that he could get calls. Barely anybody would've known the phone number for that phone, yet as soon as the nurse plugged it in, it rang, and it was Vince on the other line, checking on him, and giving him a heartfelt "you're a fighter, you can beat this" pep talk. That reminds me of what Jeff Jarrett said. After Jeff's wife died of cancer, Vince called him and offered his condolences. After all the bad blood between both of them, Vince still did that. The bad blood between them has went down considerably.

Im pretty sure he also paid for Bam Bam's funeral, too And Paul Burchill's brother's funeral. Burial at sea? Couldn't resist a pirate joke.

I think the problem when it comes to perception of Vince McMahon is that a lot of people can't separate Vince the person from Vince the businessman.

He's made the internet happy by allowing CM Punk and Daniel Bryan to become huge stars.

There's a whole thread about it - basically Vince was asked what he thought of Xian once and he said he didn't like how his face looked, and wondered if he could just put a big blue dot over his head whenever he wrestled, possibly as part of some weird gimmick or because Vince is just a wacky loveable loon.

Not sure if this counts as "nice," but as much as he asks anyone to do anything, I truly believe he would never ask a wrestler to do anything that he wouldn't do himself. Dozens of guys have destroyed their bodies for him, but if it were the other way around Vince would be the guy falling off ladders through tables, no questions asked.

He get's in the ring and take's bumps when he never had to in the first place. He has ben humiliated and beaten up time and time gain and never comes out on top in an of his feuds. He will sign anyone if it's good for business, which includes Hulk Hogan after he testified against him in court and Eric Bischoff who tried to take him out of business.
WWE has bee doing charity work for 30 years now, with everything from Make A Wish to the Special Olympics. He's the first one to call up Bret Hart after his stroke, after all the bad blood between the two. He's paid for countless rehab stint's even if the person isn't in the company (which goes to show you how much the WWE actually cares about the wrestler's). He's employed Droz for years after his injury, he's paid for multiple funerals. And if it weren't for him, there wouldn't be a WrestleMania or WWE for that matter.
And he's not Dixie Carter.
It's going to be a sad day when he leaves us. No doubt about it.

I honestly think the only reason Vince comes across as a psychopath when you hear backstage stories out of context is because he would do ANYTHING for his company, and has done. As people have said, he never asks anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself.
I've never heard a single negative story from a fan.
Those Jeff Jarrett/Bret Hart stories up there nearly moved me to tears, honestly. And if there's any more doubt, I have one word: Droz.

There's always been an issue I've had with Vince not asking wrestlers to do stuff that he wouldn't.
Just what is Vince not willing to do?

I love this thread.
We, as fans, are always so quick to jump on Vince for stupid business decisions he's made, doing shit that is clearly only done for his own amusement with no thought to how it affects the product. I think we (and I'm including myself here) are equally as quick to forget just how much awesome stuff has been on our televisions because of Vince. Not to mention all of the stuff in this thread.
He may be old, out of touch and crazy, but Vince is still the f***ing man.

In Foley's first book, he talked about a time when he was really injured and needed to take time off. He called Vince and asked. He heard Vince ruffling through a calendar, then Vince said "There's a weekend in May you can have off" or something short like that. Foley was about to freak out when he then heard "huh uhuhhuh" and then Vince told him he could take as much as he needed.

People like to bring up all of the humiliating angles Vince and his writers have put people through (Trish barking, for example), but we're also talking about a guy who, at the time was either a billionaire or near it, went on worldwide TV and peed his pants to further an angle.

The Bret Hart stroke phone call was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread - but also I seem to remember that Vince called-up Davey Boy Smith and offered him a job when he was in hospital with I think his back injury that happened in the WCW/Warrior trap-door incident at Halloween Havoc (when I think WCW fired him). I'm pretty sure I remember Bulldog talking about that giving him a big lift.
Also on the first Eddie Guerrero DVD, Eddie talks about injuring his elbow in his second week with the company and thinking his career there was over before it began, only for the McMahons to stay with him at the hospital that evening and re-assure him to just concentrate on getting healthy again. Eddie said something like that was when he realised what a good company he worked for.
I'm probably not remembering the details correctly in those two stories, but I think the overall gist is correct.

The way WWE treats U.S. soldiers is pure class. I think it borders on patronizing. Then again, that's just me. It is just you, and for good reason.
