WOW. Triple H remembers a story slightly differently to how it happened and it causes this kind of response. So lame. Wade Keller is such a tool. How so? Triple H wrongly insinuated that Wade Keller's opinion was swayed by a phone call, when he was actually supportive of DDP all along (it was Torch writer Bruce Mitchell who got a call from DDP, and he continued to bash Page afterwards). That's a pretty serious accusation to make against a journalist.

You're right, he did have to defend himself here, but it's just so constant with him that it's gotten old by now. He's always defending himself from some ridiculous "injustice", getting his feelings hurt, or being overdramatic in some way.

Reading a little more, he does come off as a bit hypocritical on the hardcore stuff. It has its place. I distinctly remember he himself pedigreeing Foley into thumbtacks.

HHH the businessman and HHH the fan of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling are a lot more likable than HHH the wrestler or HHH the on-screen performer.

He never said there's no place for it, it's just that you've got to have something for dinner besides sugar. WWE had to pull out all the stops to out-do WCW on a weekly basis, and that's done a lot of long-term damage to the novelty of hardcore matches. I think we're slowly getting back to the point where, if somebody took a barbed-wired 2x4 and layed into somebody, we'd all go "HOLY SHIT". But that stuff was happening almost every week in the Attitude-era and for a while afterwards.

I've always said that as long as he stays off my screen, Triple H will do nothing but great things for WWE, and this interview only reinforces that point. He just gets it.

Great interview. I love his explanation of how moronic it is that guys don't put their hands up when they get hit with a chair.

Oh, so now we all like Triple H now?! I think the majority of people don't mind the idea of HHH running the company despite their disdain for him as a TV character.

This stuck out to me: Yup, that's right everyone! Stephanie is who's responsible for the continuity we've been finally getting!

I like him as a TV character but if he's been responsible for the past 2 years of crap (with the exception of Rock/Cena and now Orton/Bryan) I don't think I'll be watching with him in charge of running the company.

Triple H and Nash are two guys who are very good about how they present themselves, and difficult men to dislike in an interview, shoot, etc.

HHH name dropping Chris Angel was the best part.

Really great interview. I do question just how selfless he is, I say this as a big Triple H fan and I really can't base this on anything but hearsay and what I see on TV but you don't often hear a lot of guys singing the praises of Triple H, though at the same time a lot of the people who disparage him tend to carry chips on their shoulder and wear it like a general bitterness that gets taken out on the easiest target. If he's anything of a prick he hides it well.
What occurred to me reading this was just wondering what the wrestling landscape would be if WCW killed WWE. Just thinking about how much of wrestling history that WWE preserves, I can't help but feel that WCW wouldn't be quite as careful or as forward thinking as WWE in terms of the wellness policy and the amazing developmental system.

Oh, so now we all like Triple H now?! I like him on screen (just as long as he isn't doing anything with HBK) and off screen he comes across as a decent guy to me.

If anything this confirms he knows exactly what's said about him and he knows exactly how to play it up.

Triple H taking over the company will be one of the best things to happen to the business ever. He just needs to stay off TV.
