I think WWE saw that his original Ryback "feed me more" character didn't really have legs to go anywhere. It was so one dimensional with no room for a character arc whatsoever. It would have become repetitive and stagnant pretty quick. Was it popular, of course, but as there was no long-term potential they were smart to squash it pretty quick.
This NEW Ryback though - I like this guy as a character. It can actually grow and develop. He can become a more violent bully and get put down by a face. He can eventually reform and realize that being a bully is a sign of weakness.

it was a total and utter blow opportunity, mainly caused by pushing him into the main evet at a time when there was no room because of Rock/Cena. that said, I'm digging "Total Asshole Ryback".

Useless. Was pushed way too hard and didnt deserve the spot.
How long was "Feed me More" gonna last until everyone and their mothers are cheering against his ass? Dude is boring, has only power moves. "Oh my god, he can catch Punk in mid air off a crossbody!" Yeah, so? What was he gonna do that would be different? Absolutely nothing.
What happens when he has to sell a PPV with a promo or something non-scripted? Can he pull an amazing promo out from nowhere? No. Why should I care that he can do a bunch of scoop-slams or a clothesline?
"Feed Me More" was gonna die out soon. You dont put the WWE title on a dude who has no upside. Its like putting the title on Swagger. Useless.
Even Cena's lame shtick is better than Ryback.

I find it kind of strange how people put a lot (if not all) of the blame of Ryback's status on the heel turn and Cena , (and while those two didn't help matters) when he was already on that huge choking streak Since his match with Punk at HITC (Punk , The Sheild , Mark Henry) the guy never got a big win at a PPV when he was the face .

He should have stayed face and beaten mark henry at wrestlemania, then cena, then turn heel
I think it would be so easy right now to turn ryback tweener. Start the feed me more chants, beat adr for the belt, and just let him run with the world title and see how much he can draw.
Guy was the most liked babyface before the non-sensical turn.

He became MASSIVE in that fall-2012 period. But so many PPVs without a win, a feud with the Shield that he never got the upper hand, and then a heel turn that was simply the Cena conveyor belt process all just killed him off. It's not a word I'm fond of using but you talk about a guy being 'buried', Ryback is that guy.

I'll tell you guys, I just watched the SD interaction with the autograph and this is the MOST that Ryback has entertained me. I genuinely look forward to him each segment. FAVOR FROM THE BIG GUY! awesome

Just look at R-Truth-- he was for a few weeks the glorious main-event-level-heel Crazy Truth who saw Little Jimmy as a threat, and propelled his conspiracy theories into a WWE Title match against Cena. Quickly after this, Truth went back to the face gimmick and even now is rapping the same 'What's Up?!' song he used before after switching to new entrance themes (twice). I predict Ryback will once again be wrestling with the deafening 'feed me more' chants, probably sooner than later if Cena is staying off of TV for awhile.

With Cena out, now is the time for guys to step up. Ryback is getting more comfortable in front of the camera in a speaking role. The guy has tons going for him. He can be booked strongly easily. Have him destroy people and eventually people will start likimg him.
He turned heel in response to Cena being a dick to him. Cena is gone.
But bully ryback can change into a face, but th guy will destroy

Ryback was never going to be a top guy for any long stretch of time. With that said, they could've milked Face Ryback more before turning him.

He definitely should have stayed face. Once he turned heel it was all downhill from there. I think they did that on PURPOSE to Ryback as well (someone did) to cool his jets off.
There wasn't a guy hotter in the company at the time with all those Feed Me More chants. Why would you PURPOSELY ruin that?
I think someone with some pull in creative or the talent put the squash on Ryback because he was threatening their top position
That was like turning Punk heel when he was mega-over as a face, or turning Bryan heel now. It made NO SENSE whatsoever

Just thinking about it now after Raw went off the air. The crowd would have probably went crazy if they heard "FEED ME!" and Ryback came out to help Bryan.
Considering he hates the Shield it would makes sense, crowd would have been hype for anybody they wanted Big Show to help!
I'm imagining how loud they would have got for Ryback running through everybody to help Bryan.

Ryback is hungry enough he always chews the scene no matter what the scene is. No matter what the angle is, if "FEED ME" hits, the entire crowd will go crazy because they know that Ryback's booking is so insane absolutely can happen. Like I could imagine him helping Bryan then hitting his finisher on him, picking up the mic and saying "I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS TO BULLY BRYAN!" then leave looking all smug as though he had just made a very sensible point.

Feed Me More was so over, that when punk was doing a similar taunt the crowd chanted "feed me more"
They really need to book him as a sawed off monster in the ring and keep bullying people backstage
People will mark for it
He hasn't wrestled since the tables match with Cena. It is like they are using the skits to re-introduce ryback.
