So, with Daniel Bryan getting his ass beat on a weekly basis, it's starting to look like he'll need some back up to fight Hunner and Co. He could wait for Cena to return, or he can get CM Punk's help to become a new two-man alliance to fight the Corporation. Thoughts?

I agree.
It would benefit both of them. Bryan needs support, and Punk needs to be removed from this awful Heyman/Axel feud.

It's inevitable. There's a darn good reason they've kept Punk far away from this angle. The pop that ensues the first time static interrupts Triple H is going to be huge.

I can't wait until he calls Steph a whore again.
I'm serious.

Punk will be involved. But the worry is, I don't know how well he can play a supporting character in someone else's story at this point.

I do see it happening, especially if the Heyman Guys join forces with the NewCorp.

Should they? I don't know. Would I mark out like a little kid? Yes.

He doesn't need to be a supporting character if they do this right, that's the great thing. They were able to balance Rock and Austin in '99. so I've got faith that they can balance Bryan and Punk.

Punk: "Can I do commentary?" HHH: "Sure. You can wear my suit." Punk: *GTSs Bryan*

In kayfabe, CM Punk seems way more likely to take up Bryan's cause against the 'doofus son in law' and join the guy management never believed in. CM Punk seems way more likely to empathize with Bryan than Ziggler, Big Show, and Cody Rhodes. You could see CM Punk taking up Bryan's charge because he sees Bryan as part of the 'change' Punk wanted to bring.
Of course WWE is keeping Punk as far away from this storyline as possible.

Punk should say "a couple of years ago I told you what would happen when Stephanie and the son-in-law took over. Well....how's that going?"
Then join Bryan.

So let me see if I get this:
Punk cuts the Pipebomb promo and is the hottest act in wrestling. Accuses HHH of being corrupt. Jobs to HHH. Apologizes to HHH for being wrong about him. Moves on.
Two years later, HHH is corrupt.

This isn't what Punk is like in kayfabe at all. In Kayfabe, he was a bad guy who manipulated everyone into thinking he was a rebel, as elucidated upon several times during his heel turn. It's even in his theme song.

It's even in his theme song. It doesn't matter. Rikishi tried to kill Steve Austin and then went back to dancing in four months. Triple H beat Shawn Michaels half to death countless times between 2002 and 2004, and in 2006 they were high-fiving and hanging all over each other. I've learned that letting go of past continuity helps me enjoy the show a lot more.

Now I think we're supposed to see Punk like he was before he invalidated his former actions.
