I think I might enter in the hope of winning just so I can experience that rite of passage every comic book artist wants in the modern era - being fired before the first issue is released.

did anyone see the argument between Gail Simone and Mark Waid on twitter today? I think if Mark Waid could find a way to vomit acidic sh*t directly into Dan Didio's face and then crucify him naked, upside down and lit on fire, he would do it.

Comic books, featuring such famously un-married characters as Green Arrow, Superman, Reed Richards and Sue Storm give it time. some schmuck will inevitably come along who says "y'know I always shipped Sue with Namor" and we'll get a storyline where Reed is demonized as the worst husband/father ever, killed off in an embarrassing fashion and then Sue will literally blow Namor on Reed's grave.

Married couples in comics don't draw a dime, or do you not trust the almighty Quesada?

So, be honest, we got a lot of artists around here. Who's entering this contest?

Well, they did state this isn't the final design for Lobo. It's a shame though, I'd like to see it used for a different character because it actually looks damn cool, it's just not right for freaking Lobo.

If I'm reading it right, though, the new model Lobo is suppose to be the "original" Lobo, while the Lobo we know of is the "fake" Lobo, and suppose to lead to a Lobo vs Lobo fight that has "fake" Lobo beat the new version.
Kind of like the whole Scarlet Spider/Spider-Man angle from the Clone Wars miniseries.

I thought the entire point of Lobo was that even his design was meant to scream "trying too hard" as to take the piss out of the badass 90's anti-hero stuff that was going on at the time. In that context the new Lobo design does exactly what it's supposed to do considering the look of the badass these days would be a sort of willowy type who is prone to rocking skinny jeans on the weekends.
That contest though...how much you want to bet the moment DC heads get caught with questions about the lack women creators and artists in DC, they'll cite this one contest to talk about how "We did an open call! THE GIRLS JUST DIDN'T WANNA!"? I'm telling you, someone is going to say that.

Considering how Gail Simone is usually so against this sort of thing and the use of female characters this way.....I lost quite a bit of respect for her today

Kind of like the whole Scarlet Spider/Spider-Man angle from the Clone Wars miniseries. Because that went swimmingly.

the REALLY funny bit is he still looks like classic Lobo in Stormwatch but looks like this in Supergirl. so it's a big continuity gaffe because the writers didn't even check to see if someone was already using him before they went ahead with the redesign.

In Lobo 1 they have the redesign state he's hunting the classic biker lobo.
Which is odd o me because Biker Lobo is the one on the cover.

So...is there any contest for those of us who can't draw but can write? No offense guys, but the more I see of Marvel and DC, I become more positive that even an unprofessional amateur like me could write rings around their crappy staff.
