Maybe they were impressive, maybe they were just laying around the ring killing time, but who surprised you by doing really well in the Royal Rumble?
One example I remember (which might make sense now) was a young Blackjack Bradshaw staying in the 1998 Rumble for around 45 minutes. He put on a good performance. 8-Ball was in too for like 35 minutes, but he kind of just hung around. I just watched this one last night and thought it was cool to see.
Maybe this is well known, but I also loved fat dancing Rikishi eliminating 7 people immediately in 2000.
You have any specific Rumble performances you love?

The sheer randomness of Shane Douglas in 1991 lasting as long as he did with some of the bigger names of the time period.

R-Truth eliminating Big Show AND Mark Henry at the same time in 2010, that had me shocked.

Hasn't Cody Rhodes had a couple? And we all thought they were going to turn into pushes?

Generic blue attire Cody Rhodes stayed for like over 30 minutes in 2007 for some reason.

Didn't Coachman last like 30 minutes in a Rumble?

Maven eliminating Taker was surprising. I liked how the next year they tried to reenact it.

I always liked Jericho's performance in the 2003 Rumble. It wasn't entirely surprising as he was a upper-midcarder at the time, but to go 38 minutes (the longest time of the rumble), get 6 eliminations (the most of the rumble) and look good doing it is always a plus. Plus his elimination was from someone outside the match so that adds a touch as well.

Mr. Perfect lasting until the final 3 in 2002. I know he didn't do much, but it's still a fairly big deal.

R-Truth eliminating Big Show AND Mark Henry at the same time in 2010, that had me shocked. What I always remember about that was that the crowd was COMPLETLY dead when R-Truth came out, couldn't give a crap about him entering. Then he eliminated Show and Henry and became the most over guy in the match.

Kane nearly going the distance in 2001 i think was a pretty decent effort and he came off really well from it.

Rick Martel's performance in the Rumble (1991 I believe...). Didn't think he would last that long and did a decent performance in retrospect.

I have to nominate Shawn Michaels' first Rumble win in 1995. This was a guy who, at the time, had mainly been a color commentator on RAW, talk show host on the Heartbreak Hotel, and a pseudo-manager/tag team partner for Diesel/Nash. He didn't wrestle all that much. This would also be the first time somebody won after drawing #1, so that was also a surprise before it became a overused cliche.
