Yeh sorry. The only moment i cna remember of Del Rio being over is when he turned face by saving Ricardo.
He had MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY opportunities and bad booking was not to blame on at least most of then.

So ADR's bad booking doesn't matter because Undertaker? Jesus that is seriously the shittiest argument I've ever seen on this board. That should be the answer to everything. "Mum, why isn't Daddy coming back from the shop?" "Because Undertaker, that's why! Now, eat your peas!"

The funny thing is that yes, his Rumble win became pointless when he lost at Wrestlemania and never got his heat back again, but the WAY he won it in the first place put him on the fast track to being one of the most forgettable winners.
40 Man Rumble, so already its a clustersmurf. Then you have Del Rio enter very late on, not allowing the audience to see his in-ring ability (and showing them WHY he should win). Then you have Orton attack him during his entrance, making him look like an idiot. He then does nothing until he luckily eliminates Orton, before getting Cobra'd by Santino and nearly getting eliminated by him.
The fact that Santino was the runner-up made the whole Rumble look like a joke. I don't care if it got a good pop at the time, in history it would be akin to Shawn Michaels winning the 1995 Rumble by last eliminating Doink the Clown.

Del Rio needs to drop the title, and flounder as an upper midcard where he belongs

If you ever have the opportunity to answer "Alberto Del Rio" in a game actually CALLED "pointless", you damn well take that opportunity.

Alberto needs a Spanish telenovela actor gimmick. They could even make actual episodes and put them on WWE.com.
MONEY.

I get liking the guy, and I dig his work like half the time. But you can't deny the man's lack of heat, unless you only watch Smackdown, in which case you'd think he's the biggest heel since Iron Sheik.

Why does the idea of del Rio getting his own show make my mind immediately go to Candle Cove? I suppose watching static for a half hour would probably be more productive than listening to one of his promos, but I don't think that's it.

I really don't see a lack of heat, but for the sake of argument maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's a cowardly heel who has to cheat to win except for when he's a world class wrestler with a "new aggressive streak" who "hates bullies" except when he's bullying people. Bluntly, the whole story of his WWE character is f***ing stupid and makes no sense, but that's 100% on the booking. With few exceptions WWE wrestlers don't come up with their own angles, gimmicks, or at this point even their own promos. They don't even completely put the match together by themselves since they have agents help work them out beforehand. By the same token the company also deserves a lot of credit when things go well, but the idea that the booking makes an enormous difference as to whether or not a modern WWE wrestler gets over successfully is pretty legitimate.

I like Del Rio and have since he debuted, but I really like the idea of a telenovela gimmick. Especially if WWE just straight ripped off Monsignor Martinez from King of the Hill.

There are definitely legitimate problems with the booking that take away from his heat. But, you can say that about a lot of guys, and they still manage to be over in spite of bad booking. Dolph Ziggler is a good example. I think he could do better with what he's got, but he could certainly be given a better story.

Ziggler is an amazing wrestler, but if you wanna talk about heatless he's your guy. There's usually no reason to even boo him except that he's wrestling against a babyface or standing next to Vickie Guerrero (or AJ, or somebody else who can get heat since he can't).

I meant that he stayed over with the fans despite being booked as an ineffective chump, in some towns he was getting big reactions (especially on PPV) and his MITB cash-in was one of the biggest pops I've ever heard. But, you're right, as a heel he didn't reallhy get the desired boos, so not the best example. Not sure if you've watched recently but he's a babyface now, and he gets pretty good pops and they haven't fizzled out like Del Rio's did, yet anyways. I think Del Rio's good, but he can be boring, and with how overexposed he's been the crowd seems sick of him, much like they were of Sheamus before his recent injury.

I consider Edge's Rumble win more pointless.
