God damn! What the hell? What are they doing with him? You've gotta be kidding me! He looks like an ass every week. I was really excited when he was first repackaged and thought Triple H would put him over at Summerslam. Now look at him! I even thought Fandango's injury was fake just to put Axel in the IC title match at Payback for a swerve. What a shame! He barely even defends the title now! His weird neck-driver finsher thing is stupid. The Perfect-plex, hell, even the Axel-cutter, are better than that! And after Night of Champions..... {Spoiler}Why would Heyman need him? Ryback rules and in storyline, kicks more ass than Axel gets handed to him. And why did they not announce Kofi vs. Axel? And why did a HEEL Triple H give Kofi the match? Is Axel THAT bad in kayfabe that even the heel doesn't like him? Damn. You know, I really like his theme, the name was okay, he's good in the ring, but damn. WWE effed him up BIG TIME. Thoughts? |

Its the IC title he's holding. After months of seeing what they did with Barrett, Axel should consider himself lucky broke even on the PPV as far as wins.

He's quite possibly the worst IC champion I've seen since Albert. Hell, at least Albert was entertaining at one point.
If his main feuds aren't going to center around the title, THEN TAKE THE TITLE OFF HIM. Goddamn~

I used to be kinda depressed that given how legendary the IC title once was it was treated as an afterthought.
After about a decade of that though, I don't care any more than they do.

Like I get the him boring you part; that's perfectly valid. But objectively, he is really solid in the ring, so he and Lacey are nowhere near a 1-1 comparison. |

I'm not comparing the two of them, I'm more comparing the generational gap in talent. Curt Hennig was, pound for pound, one of the greatest natural athletes I've ever seen. The guy just oozed charisma. Axel, while a decent hand in the ring, he's just kind of...there. Nothing about him stands out to me. Perhaps the Lacey Von Erich comparison was a little harsh, but if you're going to go out there and tell me, "Hey, this is Mr. Perfect's kid", he better stand out in some way. Otherwise, as a fan, I'm going to feel pretty underwhelmed. |

They should never, ever ever have him wrestle for 40 some minutes on PPV again. He is so boring. Like I don't get how people can call Del Rio boring when there's guys like Curtis Axel running around.

I was trying to remember all the champs before the PPV tonight and it took me a solid 3-4 minutes to remember who the IC champ was.
This guy, its like just being a Heyman guy wasn't enough or something. That IC title could actually be used for a whole different storyline outside of the Punk/Heyman & Corporate "best for business" Mobius Strip we're caught in.
