I'll admit, I was being punished at the time and missed a few months here and there of wrestling, so if this was explained let me know.
But really...why did Randy Savage join the nWo?
He was the first "casualty" of the fully formed core of the group, being the one legdropped by Hogan.
He was a victim of numerous attacks.
He seemed to be allying with Sting for a while.
Then after I get back...he's part of the group?
Someone explain it to me, please?

Savage, Sting, Luger, & a few others should have never been even considered for membership in the nWo.
Savage & Sting especially... Go from being featured performers/main eventers...... To back up guys for Hogan, Hall, & Nash.

Oh, and his jump was pretty inexplicable. He just joined them at SuperBrawl & they gave him Miss Elizabeth as a present the next night.

I didn't mind Savage in the nWo...I would have preferred he wasn't. In fact, if anything...he joined WAY too late. If he joined right after Giant did, and kept it a 5 man team...it would have worked. The problem was, he joined when the nWo was already watered down with so many other guys.
Sting on the other hand downright pissed me off.

I always figured Savage was pissed at the lack of support from various WCW babyfaces back in the fall, and just had the "If you can't beat em, join him" philosophy. Plus with the group basically holding Elizabeth hostage, it was the only way to get close to her again.

Sting on the other hand downright pissed me off. Same. Mostly because I hated the Wolfpac Sting look. Sting should have NEVER had an nWo membership, no matter which side it was.

Because SWERVE! That's why. I hated it since Macho being leg dropped was pretty much what started the nwo.
The NWO pretty much let anybody join. They even let those TBS Dinner and A Movie guys join. I'm guessing membership requirement was simply having a person to betray.

because every week or so they needed a new member, most of the time just for the one off shock value. They even made a NWO bis with the jobbers il I remember correctly.

Because Savage was completely insane.

My guess is to make the NWO look more unstoppable.
It made sense for him to join the side of the "invaders", even if the storyline had kind of turned from that idea at said point.
The NWO as Hogan, Nash, Hall, Savage vs Sting, Luger, Giant and DDP could've been great.

I am almost convinced he just wanted to wear black and white MADNESS outfits, and black and red ones for the Wolfpac.

Because Savage was completely insane. Y'know I was just starting to wonder what his thought process, since he was always so meticulous about his matches and his character in the WWF. Insanity didn't immediately spring to mind, but now that it has I can't think of anything other reason but that.

If I recall, he was gone from WCW for a few months from October 96-January 97 and he tried to re-sign but Bischoff wouldn't let him as a WCW guy, but Bischoff said that if he wanted in, "they could do business". That was one of the Nitros leading into Superbrawl, when Savage was sitting in the rafters with Sting.

He was very conflicted when he turned...then he was all about messing people up with his pals.
It was just weird. He should have been part of the early group if he was gonna do it.

a heel turn for Savage was long overdue at that point anyway. he had been a face for 6 years. turning him heel opened up way more opportunities for B-show main events. keeping Savage as a face only gave you so many people he could face in the nWo that would actually generate some interest.

I have never understood how/why that whole thing played out the way it did.
Savage shows up unannounced, takes over the ring and says he's been blackballed, won't leave until something is done. Sits in the ring for something like 10 minutes. Sting comes out, threatens him but Savage doesn't back down and they leave together.
They start doing the Sting thing together, even pulling the same stunt on DDP, who *does* flinch, and they leave without him. Then suddenly for no reason Savage makes the run-in at the PPV and saves the NWO.
