What I find most depressing now is that with the world title scene, its a lose-lose-lose situation.
You either have Del Rio retains, which means keeping the belt on a guy who is not only one of the most forgettable world champions in WWE history, but possibly in wrestling history.
Either that or have RVD win, which means giving the belt to yet another 40+ year old veteran (which is now a yearly tradition) instead of a guy like Ziggler, Barrett, Ryback etc who need it more.
And the third option is Damien Sandow, a guy who has 50 pinfall losses on TV this year alone and can barely scrape victories against the likes of Santino and Justin Gabriel.
Giving credibility to the belt wouldn't even be that hard. Just have the WWE Championship stay on Raw and have Smackdown focus on the World Championship. Have a few young upper midcarders like Ziggler, Barrett, Ryback, Miz, Cesaro etc. fight for the belt every week and deliver great matches on PPV. If that isn't an option, just merge it with the IC title (which is also in a similarly crappy position) and have it be the secondary title in the company.

Del Rio's a good worker. I'm happy for him.

I'd be fine with unifying the IC and World Heavyweight Titles, although I think they need to pick the right guy to do it. Maybe someone like Cody Rhodes (then he would TRULY be bringing prestige back to the IC belt rather than just having feuds with main eventers where the belt doesn't matter) or Miz. Miz did a good job with the Intercontinental Title. Even though he was a former WWE Champion, he still wanted the IC belt and didn't act as if it was beneath him the way that other guys like Randy Orton and Sheamus tended to.

Great. Tomorrow he reaches 9th, and by Hell in a Cell he'll reach 8th.
