Why didn't Triple H mention himself in that list? He's never been the guy lol.

Why didn't Triple H mention himself in that list? He's never been the guy lol. Probably because he's a heel and heels are self-serving douchebags.

he was too busy smoking pot in his basement. Come on, we all know that his special deal was made only to allow him to get hammered for 3 months straight between the working periods where he has to stay clean. Except that weed is only a fine. That doesn't mean he couldn't be fired if he were caught smoking while under contract.

Triple H boasting how Bryan isn't even worthy of a match with him (but, please, buy the PPV to watch him wrestle). Bingo.

I highly doubt Y2J and RVD care much as long as they get a check. Right there. Jericho especially is still a lil carny about staying in character as a heel, so I can't see him having an issue with it at all.

Jericho's reaction from Twitter: I have no idea what the details of this are or who's exactly saying what, since I can't read Twitish, but it....doesn't sound good? *shrugs* It honestly sounds like he's having a lot of fun with it more than anything else.

Triple H is a power hungry ego-maniac character! HE'S A BAD GUY. Good lord. Were people wondering if Elizabeth cheated on Macho Man with Flair back in the day too? We never got those promised photos dammit.

I don't understand the game of "I'm gonna fundamentally ignore what Dave Meltzer said, lol the Dave Meltzer strawperson I've created is so stupid!"

I wish this principle applied to every wrestler reference; like if you bring up Steve Blackman or the Headbangers in a promo, you then by requirement, have to then pay it off with a match down the line.
*HHH stands in the ring*
HHH: Bryan you're no important to this company than Rob Conway was.
*Six months later "Just look at me" hits*
Cole: Oh my, looks like HHH is going to pay for his comments, the Con Way!

There were several insanely stupid things about this promo. First off, it trashed Bryan yet again since HHH thinks he is so useless he wouldn't bother coming out of semi retirement to beat him down. Ironically this sorta buried Orton indirectly since Orton kinda IS facing Bryan. So at the base level this was idiocy in terms of building to a PPV.
If HHH had simply said "Bryan, you aren't The Guy. Neither were other great wrestlers like Jericho, Edge, and RVD." But then he goes and adds the part about "If those guys were The Guy we'd be working for Turner now." To me that line goes beyond a heel promo and reeks of HHH going into business for himself to bury old rivals. The problem is that the statement makes ZERO sense. Let's review: Edge was largely a midcard tag wrestler during the 1998-2000 period HHH is talking about, and really never got a sustained singles push until roughly The Invasion era (KOTR 2001). Jericho may not have ever been quite the #1 guy, but during 2000 he main evented Raw episodes that did 7.0 ratings and was pretty instrumental in stomping WCW in the MNW. Hell, RVD wasn't even IN WWE during the MNW era. He debuted as a full time guy during the Invasion, where he quickly became one of the most popular guys in the company and showed every sign that he could be The Guy until forces backstage buried him (cough HHH cough). Of the 3 I have the least problem with Edge since he isn't employed by WWE at this point and can fire back if he wants.
I guess I just wonder what the point of all this is? For those who enjoyed this promo I have to ask: What possible money did it draw? Did it sell a PPV? Did it put over the main event and its participants? No. All it did was put HHH over. It sucked.

This sounds loads better than the current angle, mostly because I actually loved Rob Conway.

You don't need to fail wellness to get fired. The WWE can fire you for whatever reason they want, if they feel that they have justification.

By Meltzers logic Daniel Bryan should also walk away for Triple H saying he's not "the guy"

This is true, however RVD has never shown up so baked that he couldn't go in his 20 year career so I doubt that he starts now. Just casually smoking weed won't get you fired.

Triple H boasting how Bryan isn't even worthy of a match with him (but, please, buy the PPV to watch him wrestle). Bingo. You're not supposed to believe what the heel says. Because he's a heel, and heels are lying jackasses. Heels are bad guys. Heel.

You're not supposed to believe what the heel says. Because he's a heel, and heels are lying jackasses. Heels are bad guys. Heel. Exactly, everyone is asking what this promo accomplished. It got the IWC hating the heel authority, the IWC who talk on reddit and other social media sites who will complain about people being buried but still throw the name WWE around, they already have the casuals money now they want your attention they don't need your money if you are free advertisements. This is the new kayfabe guys, you think Jericho gives a shit? Like he gave a shit that Punk was stealing his Best in the World stuff? You. Got. Worked.

Direct quotes from Big Dave:
"If, I'm just saying if, I don't wanna speculate on what I don't know and when it comes to this stuff, um, nobody knows, but, if he (Jericho) never comes back and this interview is the reason why, I will say that this will be one of the stupidest interviews in the history of the business."
"I will go so far as to say, if he comes back in two years, because by that point yknow whatever it is will have blown over, it's still the stupided interview in the business."
"If Wrestlemania comes and goes and Chris Jericho is not on the card then this is the stupidest interview in a long, long time, really stupid. And if RVD doesn't come back it was really really stupid, although I presume RVD will come back for Wrestlemania, although perhaps he might not. If I'm RVD at home and I hear about this, after, yknow, the whole deal the way it went down when he left, if they didn't call me first, I'm not sure I'd be too happy either. I wouldn't be so thrilled if I was Edge either, yknow what I mean. Of the three, I mean, cause like, Edge carried the company for a while, certainly carried the Smackdown brand. I mean he was never the, the face of the company but he, so was Jericho, for a while, Jericho was the top heel of the company for a while too. I mean, RVD never got quite to that position, but there you go."

The only problem is, I guarantee WWE won't have someone say "But you weren't ever the man either, Hunter!" because lord knows we can't have that said about the almighty Hunter.
