The only problem is, I guarantee WWE won't have someone say "But you weren't ever the man either, Hunter!" because lord knows we can't have that said about the almighty Hunter. Thing is, he can easily respond with "My posse and I ruled this show for two straight years with an iron fist."

And Daniel Bryan can easily say "I've main evented the last 3 PPVs and had Randy Orton beat clean as a whistle on two ocassions" but that makes too much sense.

You're not supposed to believe what the heel says. Because he's a heel, and heels are lying jackasses. Heels are bad guys. Heel. Exactly, everyone is asking what this promo accomplished. It got the IWC hating the heel authority, the IWC who talk on reddit and other social media sites who will complain about people being buried but still throw the name WWE around, they already have the casuals money now they want your attention they don't need your money if you are free advertisements. This is the new kayfabe guys, you think Jericho gives a shit? Like he gave a shit that Punk was stealing his Best in the World stuff? You. Got. Worked. I'm still confused as to what good that really does. The people watching the show are already watching and following. The people who don't care because the WWE tends to go out of its way to alienate people who'd definitely be more inclined to talk about the show and be loyal fans...don't watch no matter how much Twitter buzz WWE gets. I think a lot of people throw around buzz on social media thinking that buzz on Twitter or Reddit means something. Well, other than "LOOK AT US, WE'RE RELEVANT! THE KIDS ARE TALKING ABOUT US ON THIS SITE!"

Triple H boasting how Bryan isn't even worthy of a match with him (but, please, buy the PPV to watch him wrestle). Bingo. You're right. Even though I'm a big Daniel Bryan I'm no longer going to buy the PPV. Thank you HHH for enlightening me to how much DB sucks. Now I can use the money to buy a six pack and a porn mag. Psyche, I was never going to buy the PPV (that's what illegal streams are for)

So what's currently the most stupid promo in WWE history or wrestling history? Probably the Ric Flair "Virgins" promo from MSG that he cut when a shitload of corporate sponsors were in attendance. And people wonder why Vince is so gung-ho about cleaning up his product.

This is the new kayfabe guys, you think Jericho gives a shit? Like he gave a shit that Punk was stealing his Best in the World stuff? You. Got. Worked. First off, it didn't get me hating Triple H. Like I mentioned several times already, him bringing this shit up didn't help the storyline and it's the same redundant stuff that confuses 85% of the audience. But boy...they sure got me!! I couldn't care less if he buried people, because it's nothing new with him anyways. I guess once again "I'm getting worked" because I don't like the direction this angle is headed. That's not getting worked. I guess I'll go shoplift or cheat on my girlfriend. When they question me on it, I'll call them marks for taking things too seriously. I'm just playing a bad guy, jeez!!! The whole point of a bad guy is to engage me into wanting to buy the PPV to get his ass kicked. WWE has failed at this entirely. But let's keep LOLing at the people "falling for this". Heh.

So what's currently the most stupid promo in WWE history or wrestling history? There was the time that HHH said a broomstick would give him a better match than any of the guys that walked out, the time HHH said there were no challenges left for him and Undertaker backstage, when Big Show said he wasn't a "phony UFC fighter", as much as I loved Cena's promo about Sundays or The Rock's promo about buying a car from a crackhead they were pretty terrible as far as promoting wrestling shows goes.

I still don't understand the people in this thread who are repeatedly throwing out quips about "heelin'" and "working the smarks" as if that completely absolves the fact that it was a silly comment to make if it's not going anywhere. Surely for it to be a successful work in the first place it needs to be leading to something, and the whole argument is that if it isn't leading to something then it's ridiculous. We can go on and on about how it's pissing off the smarks and it's drawing heat but the whole point is that the same heat could have been drawn with 100 and 1 different, less stupid comments, and anyway is working the smarks really what they should be doing right now? The fact is that the internet fans stream most PPVs and they don't put as much money in the pockets of the WWE than the millions of jimmies and their parents do so surely it should be those guys that need to get worked? It's not as if him badmouthing Jericho and RVD will have the smart fans lining up in droves to buy HIaC is it? It's not as if it's going to get the casual fans to buy into Bryan as the #1 is it? So that means that unless it leads to an angle, it's extremely redundant. Seriously. This is the stuff that's helped ruin Daniel Bryan for me, a guy who 3 months ago I wanted to win the WWE title so bad, now I don't even care. They've gone out of their way to accentuate his weaknesses, and compare him to other guys that were really popular but were never the guy for size/politics/marketability reasons (but back then they weren't openly acknowledged as part of an "angle"), subconsciously reinforcing that B+ player stuff. It's going completely out of the context of a wrestling show, where the toughest best wrestlers rise to the top and win titles. Sure, the big characters are always the ones that get the top, and it's because they're marketable. But they were also portrayed as the toughest best wrestlers. Bryan's winning all of his matches but the storyline is downplaying that completely. Someone needs to be pointing this out, Bryan himself, the commentators, someone. This is really unprecedented, can someone name a wrestler that's gotten more over by having his marketability questioned? And isn't this supposed to be what this is about? So, I'm getting worked or something. Lovely. Doesn't mean it makes me want to buy a ticket. In fact much much much less so. A good version of getting worked is "boy I wanna buy a ticket and see this guy get his ass kicked." Nope. This is exactly like heel Michael Cole, who had no decent face announcer to combat him making people look bad on a weekly basis, except this time it's THE main angle that encompasses the entire product, and has hurt a potential top-tier babyface, not to mention guys like Dolph Ziggler and The Miz who Triple H cut-down verbally and they haven't recovered or even had a chance to prove any of it wrong. Triple H has been accused of this stuff for years and years, and now he's doing it blatantly right in front of our faces. But now, the popular opinon is "duh, it's fake!" What? Triple H is a terrible heel, has been for a long long time, because he doesn't show weakness and get the babyface over. He's a terrible babyface, because he doesn't show weakness and make the heel look like a true threat. He sucks the life out of everything. He managed to suck the life out of Brock Lesnar. But hey, he was really good for 2 years, he's put over like 2 guys, and had a handful of great matches in 15 years, so that makes up for it right?

So what's currently the most stupid promo in WWE history or wrestling history? - Matt Hardy's return promo in 2005. - Michael McGillicutty's "This isn't a swimming pool." - The Genesis of McGillicutty - AJ Styles' trying to imitate CM Punk, which caused the crowd to turn on him. - Immortal's 45 minute promo to open an Impact. And we complain about Triple H going 20 minutes.

I loved most of those promos, but they did nothing to encourage people to buy PPVs.

Triple H accomplishes half of what a heel is supposed to when he works the smarks, or the writers think he does, whatever. He makes people want to see him lose.
This is step one.
Unofrtuantely, step two, get his ass kicked, is something that doesn't happen. If I spot anyone THAT Warrior match, and the Batista and Cena feuds and give a start time of the day he joined DX, can anyone find me a feud that, as a heel, he wound up with his ass handed to him and vanquished at the end?

CM Punk calls Vince retarded and hopes he dies except his stupid family would run the business into the ground and that is the best promo EVAH! HHH disses guys like Jericho and Edge and says he wouldn't come back and says Bryan is also like them (both Edge and Jericho are big stars in the company with multiple title reigns by the way...) and somehow it is the worst ever.

I mean, Wolverine healing powers aside, he definitely got his comeuppance.

I wish this principle applied to every wrestler reference; like if you bring up Steve Blackman or the Headbangers in a promo, you then by requirement, have to then pay it off with a match down the line. *HHH stands in the ring* HHH: Bryan you're no important to this company than Rob Conway was. *Six months later "Just look at me" hits* Cole: Oh my, looks like HHH is going to pay for his comments, the Con Way! I've been waiting for Luke Gallows to come back since CM Punk name dropped him that one time. That was two years ago. #Sadface #NoPayoff #WhereAreMyIceCreamBars #MonsterTrucks
