How did they get away with this in the Attitude Era? Austin won, and the fans went home happy.

You know...I bet Daniel Bryan comes out tomorrow and doesn't declare that Triple H do the same thing that he did at Night of Champions by vacating the title, which would mean that he would be calling Trips out on his own bullshit. Afterall, the ref had a bias.
Wait...this is the third time in 4 PPVs, where we had a ref show favoritism. Why didn't Bryan say something before? Oh wait...it's because he KNOWS he's better than Orton. Mmmmhmm. Yeah. Sure.
Rinse. Repeat. Same garbage. Survivor Series will be the same thing.

Well, look at it like this. The past 2 PPVs, Cody Rhodes has shined. Orton was bad because of bad title matches. Why not have Cody vs. Orton for the title at Survivor Series? Because Cody wouldn't go over BROTHER

The 3 Way Tag was amazing, Bryan/Orton tried really hard and put on a really good showing (not including the finish), AJ won, R.A/L.M was decent, good final visuals for Punk/Heyman and the hilarity of Heyman being lifted to the top of the cell all made it worth while for me for what it was.
Not taking into account the finishes/winners of some of the matches on the flip side of the coin. Far from the worst ever in my opinion

I only caught the second half of it, but what I saw... Yeah. Yeah, pretty much. At least Battleground had the Rhodes / Shield match, and Bryan / Orton was a decent match with a stupid ending instead of a bad match with a completely braindead one. I'd say they were pretty similar, the Rhodes/Usos/Shield match was strong and to me the Battleground main event with Orton/Bryan was listless, and so was tonight's main event. Orton and Bryan had good ones before, not sure why their main events recently have been so mediocre.

There's no fun in this angle. It's just all smarky political crap. At least Vince McMahon was entertaining, and Austin was allowed to constantly kick ass like a badass despite getting screwed over. The only guy who's really been allowed to shine in this thing is the f***ing Big Show of all people.

Tonight was the "Wedding Crashers" of PPVs. Started out promising and strong, then continue to regress until the underwhelming end. I guess Rhodes/Shield/Usos was the wedding crashing montage then.

If I may put my fantasy booker cap on.....
Daniel Bryan should have won the belt at Summerslam. End of show.
Spend the next few months developing a fractured relationship between him and upper management.
Then have Triple H screw over Bryan with Orton cashing in the briefcase like....tonight after a crazy Hell in a Cell match.
They had basically two to three months worth of storylines that they pissed away having Triple H turn literally five minutes after Bryan won the title at Summerslam. That promo the following night. All of that could have been done tomorrow.
Bryan should have had a respectable title run. He didn't even get a full day. It's simply not a smart strategy in keeping him relevant. I'm not gonna say he's ruined because of it. But I simply disagree with how they went about it.

How did they get away with this in the Attitude Era? Austin won, and the fans went home happy. Not always but if he did lose, they still made it seem like he had it won or would make things right soon. That seems to be where WWE is struggling, giving people hope in the dark moments. It's either "Cena won so be happy" or hoping people will keep their wait and see ways which ain't happening much any more. WWE, to be fair, is a business that needs to make money and when they make $30 million a year for RAW and see a chance to double that (or at least increase that by a good bit), they move to the TNA model of TV > PPV. Hell, look no further than their plan to put all but WM on the WWE Network when it debuts next year*. Now why they cannot try and make both must see, I cannot tell you.

Even when Austin lost 9/10 he'd still kick some ass and drink some beers, there's no reason to celebrate the endings of these current PPV's other than that they're over.

And Big Show's part is stupid too. He comes into an arena in a truck. What does he do with it? Does he tear down the set? Is there a vat of beer, milk, elephant piss or Nickelodeon slime inside the truck that he will spray all over the bad guys with a hose? Does he run over a nice car? Nope. He arrives merely to distract Randy Orton so Bryan can hit him with the knee. That's it. No trip to the fireworks factory. Nothing.

Even having Bryan hold it for a month would have worked. Or hold off on having him win. Orton cashes in at Summerslam when both Cena and Bryan are exhausted and planted on the mat. Triple H quick counts Orton and that's that. You can do your screwjob finishes to the PPVs...whatever, but what you would also do is have Bryan represent himself better. He doesn't need to just win matches and proclaim that he's better than Orton, because at the end of the day, Orton is still champion. Ricky Steamboat was a better worker than Hogan, but that doesn't mean shit when Hogan was the star. Bryan is too complacent with how he's been treated, and I guarantee any other guy wouldn't have put up with it...well maybe Cena, but that's because they removed his testicular fortitude from his character so long ago.
I know it's cliche when some people say that wrestling fans can write a better story, but I'm convinced that 80% of people here could probably come up with something more effective than what we've gotten.

I'm actually glad. I hate it when someone wins a title, gets stripped, and wins it right back. Screws up the overall title count.
I'm guessing they'll have Orton retain up until Mania, where Bryan finally beats him through winning at the Rumble. As long as they do it that way, I'm fine with tonight.

This storyline has been an example of three straight movies ending in "to be continued" and the fourth movie ending in, "what a twist".

It seems like WWE has 4 weeks or Raw to hype a PPV, then they use the PPV to hype the next night's RAW.
