Just based on what I've seen so far, this could easily be real.

Probably bullshit, but it's not even surprising if it was true.
I knew the second they made Bryan an under 24 hours WWE champion...they don't trust him to be "the guy". It will never happen. But they can always pretend like it did, like responding in passing that he's a 2 time WWE champion.
What a joke. And they have the incredibly dull character Randy Orton as a multi-time champion who almost always fumbles the ball when given the title. He has to be up there when it comes to the most uninteresting champions ever...along with our former WHC Del Rio and our IC champion Curtis Axel. What the hell is WWE doing?

They don't have faith in new stars. That's why they are reluctant to push them to the top. Even though the biggest obstacle to those new stars rising to greater levels is WWE's own stop-start piss poor booking. They are content to remain in their holding pattern. Same reason they won't change Cena's stale character. They figure "we are making money, he's selling merchandise, why bother changing things?"

To be fair, the WWE has been much better about pushing new stars in recent years. There is actually a great deal of upward mobility in the federation. Do they take a long time to fully commit to a new start? Yes, they do. However, they give tons more opportunities now than they did 3-4 years ago. We have guys like Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, The Shield, The Wyatts, ADR(Who really is still a new guy), Sheamus(ditto), Curtis Axel, and others on prominent places in the card. Even though Cena and Orton are champions, it's nothing like their heyday when nobody was allowed to move from positions.
I love DB, but him losing one match and temporarily reverting to a related feud does not mean that the WWE is drastically changing their direction.
If it looks like NEWZ and smells like NEWZ...it's probably NEWZ.
Especially the Great Khali line.

There are new faces on the roster, and they may get a lot of screentime (too much in Alberto's case), but none of them really can be considered top line stars, and that's where WWE is refusing/unable to make progress. The glass ceiling will be a reality for them all.

PURE smarkbait. I hate that term but holy shit. I agree. No truth is likely. But...if this is somehow 100% accurate than I don't understand the outrage. This has happened a hundred times with others. If you are the main event than it is perceived that you are the reason that houses are down or buy rates or ratings. It is that simple. This is a publicly traded company that has to protect its income and bolster it. If that is their judgement than I understand. He is an incredibly talented worker and has proven he can get heat and support. Is he John Cena or Austin? No. But he is a viable option and they are trying it. Again, I doubt this is true, but if it is than it is their decision and their money

I love how this whole story hinges on the WWE management not knowing that "larger than life" and "large" mean two different things. Sounds like Kevin Nash. He went on some long-winded rant about CM Punk being midcard because he wasn't "larger than life" like Undertaker, Big Show, Hogan, etc. Yet, if you look back at the history of the WWF, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more "larger than life" character than Randy Savage, who was barely six feet tall.

If it looks like NEWZ and smells like NEWZ...it's probably NEWZ. Especially the Great Khali line. Yeah, the Khali inclusion stuck out like a sore thumb. He's been on the show near-constantly for a while now, and is only used to put others over (seriously, has he won a single match since he turned face way back there?) due to his size. WWE will never put any sort of concentrated effort in pushing him again, that bridge burned a very long time ago. He's basically part of the Oddities 2K13. Harper gets a singles match and suddenly he's being uber-pushed? No. Have they screwed up Bryan's push a bit? Absolutely. Is it a conspiracy? Doubtful. Fact is, the WWE main event roster, and even high-midcard, is so unstable right now, they're having to play a little lose with things. Christian, Henry, Mysterio all out with injuries, they're taking it easy with Cena until they're sure he's really 100%, RVD and Jericho come and go as they please, Ziggler and Wyatt have had unfortunate luck in getting injured just as their pushes really started. Ryback's push resulted in, well, the carelessness thing. Rhodes/Dust are doing great, but I don't think they're ready to go full-on main event yet. Miz is lost in a quagmire of stalled angles that even Barrett would shake his head at, and Barrett has injuries to blame for most of his. Show's getting hot reactions from the crowd for the first time in a good while and has improved his physical condition a bit. They're using what they have. It's filler, to a degree. The whole thing with putting Punk and Bryan together and sending them to mid-card against the Wyatts? Eh, I see that more as them using Bryan and Punk to finally bring the Wyatts up to main event level instead.

You mean after they suck out the fun parts of Bryan's character to turn him into an angry and intense WRASSLER who says Yes a lot without the funny backstage skits or hilarious promos, thrown him into a boring angle, then proceed to make him lose that angle over and over again with no payoff fans don't want to pay to see that?
YOU DON'T SAY

I honestly think this could be addition by subtraction for Daniel Bryan. He will continue to have great matches, will evolve his on screen character & the crowd will continue to get behind him.
The further he gets from the overbooked mess of a main event scene, Big Show, HHH & Orton. The better off he'll be.

We gotta keep it real regarding Macho Man. He wasn't a big dude, but he was a big dude. Yeah, someone can be big without being tall. Hell, pre-injury John Cena was built like a brick shithouse, and he just barely clears six feet. And Big E Langston is actually under six feet.

The whole underdog thing might be a lot easier to believe if he didn't outweigh half the roster by 30-50 lbs.

If true, someone should mail Vince that list of the top 15 draws in wrestling history that was compiled a few years back. And how like 3 tall guys were on it. And that's it.
