randy has been a borefest since the legend killer persona went away. and hey you can think hes just being a good heel or whatever, but imo hes just being himself. a slow dull and uninteresting person. dudes never been a ratings draw and is one of those who benefited by lesnar leaving.

Boring on the mic, boring in the ring, especially when a heel. Never been a fan.

How can you say this with a straight face? Well because I'm counting as what it means to be a top wrestler as someone who has the crowd in the palm of his hands. I understand the usual interpretation is someone who can do lots of moves, nearly all of which are inconsequential to everything - but my own differs. If you work a crowd you're a better wrestler than someone who can't, even if your move repertoire isn't as large. The best actor is the one with the most engaging performance not the longer list of credits listed on imdb I agree with this. Being a "professional wrestler" (from my un-professional opinion) encompasses the total package; being good physically in the ring, both in doing and selling moves as well as being able to elicit the reactions you want out of the crowd. If you had two guys, one who could wrestle like the devil and put on 5 star matches every time but was dull as a block of wood on the mic and one guy who can wrestle well and also work the crowd into a frenzy and get them excited to see his antics, I would consider the latter to be the better Professional Wrestler. Again, my own opinion.

I maintain that Miz should have been the corporate champion. They needed an obnoxious all-too-willing-to-sell-out douche (no one does that better than Miz), not a hard-as-nails-too-cool-for-school Orton.

Imo, what they really needed was a generic dude who could just be a mannequin for the belt while HHH and Steph gush over how awesome he is. Orton COULD'VE been that guy if he wasn't the Apex Predator/Viper. But the best man for that role would've been a heel Cody.

It happened for 4 and a half years when he was a face too

It's obvious when he phones it in and doesn't give a shit(sadly usually). Even though he gets flack for it he was awesome when he was a face in the Christian feud.
I like to think he just gave up after they ruined his push in late 08'-mid 09', even though he was the most over guy on the roster.

I agree so boring I've stopped watching and didn't go to a house show because of him And that right there is the problem. Being deliberately boring may get heel heat from the live crowd but why would they pay to see such a performance again? Either the next time he's headlining a tour or main-eventing a PPV. He's perfectly capable of having a good match without doing any flashy moves but chooses to be boring instead. Surely the ideal heel is is somebody people want to see get beat not somebody many people don't want to see at all. They may have booed Orton but I doubt anybody leaving that arena Monday was thinking they must come back and see Orton the next time he's in town, however The Shield have kept their heel heat wherever they've gone and I bet people leaving the arena would be happy paying to see them again. Strangely of all the wrestlers around today Bo Dallas is arguably the best heel, he manages to be get amazing heel heat and be consistently entertaining without doing anything that overshadows the faces, these days people want to see him get beat so badly that a no-name jobber facing him was instantly the biggest face on the roster. I really, really like The Shield. But, the way they're booked, I get pissed when they win. Because they always f***ing win, and they're wrestling guys that I like and would like to see beat them. I think that's as good as you can hope for in today's environment when kayfabe is so dead.

Sorry for the like spam, this was just one of those threads where the debate was so interesting I ended up liking posts on both side of the argument. I really have nothing to add. I just found this discussion really interesting.
