It is a lot healthier than "well they are just going to screw this up and it will be terrible"

Pretty much Daniel Bryan's entire tenure in WWE. With him, the expectations have changed along the way so we can retain our cynicism and never be able to appreciate his run.

Sierra Hotel India Echo Lima Delta What I came in to say. From pretty much day one people had them pegged as jobbers or the next Nexus, that Cena or Sheamus would destroy them. One year later, still the top dogs.

It's the same ratio as when you come out of hospital and hope the wait & see will pay off with the right type of drugs.
When it pays off, fantastic, but usually you're left disappointed, disheartened, sore, and worrying it'll come back after surgical procedures.
The WWE is its own lethal dose of poison, and Vince McMahon does indeed inject it regularly enough to make us worry.

Triple H putting over Batista, Sheamus, and Brock Lesnar. Someone made a graphic about that earlier in the year. It needs to be updated, I believe. Yes indeed it does, because it's only correct about 2 of them leading to nothing positive.

I think it's important to make a distinction between applying "wait and see" to something that begins with a solid foundation and when "wait and see" is blindly stated as a defense against any and all criticism.

Jericho/Michaels from 2008 might be an example. It started off pretty rocky, but became good towards the later half.

Great call. I couldn't fathom why this woman was on TV at the time.

The only real recent one I can think of is when people were screaming that Punk was going nowhere after WM 27, he was more or less in filler matches had NUCLEAR HEAT, he was being wasted ... and within like 3 months he ended up starting "the longest reigning champion of the modern era" run. Yeah that was great. Thank god they didn't do something stupid in any of that like bring Kevin Nash back or something.

Triple H putting over Batista, Sheamus, and Brock Lesnar. Batista, I'll give you. But he kind of made Lesnar look like a bitch, and no way did he help Sheamus (on screen at least). I mean, the only match Sheamus won between the two, Trips was already injured going in and had to take about 10 brogue kicks to stay down. Then leading up to Mania next year he just absolutely demolishes him for no reason. There was no point where Sheamus even looked close to his league.

Also, the Anger Management skits. People crapped all over it when they thought it was going to be an unfunny, terrible skit involving Charlie Sheen. Instead, it got what had to have been Kane's best run as a face in years and is also responsible for getting Bryan more over with the casuals in the crowd. It was also the best series of comedy skits WWE had done in years. I honestly hope whoever was responsible for those skits is still on Creative, and that they get do more of those someday. We never did figure out who specifically came up with them.

Ysee, there's really no other way to push CM Punk than have him lose the title immediately after winning it and then lose to HHH.

I think the problem is that so many of the recent big angles, I'm thinking of the last 2 years or so, have flopped or turned into a complete mess that it's understandable why people are so cynical these days. How many times can they tease the idea that things are changing only for the story to end with the status quo firmly re-enforced before fans get bored? 2 years ago the CM Punk vs the system story ended with HHH vs Kevin Nash and now the Daniel Bryan vs the Authority angle has evolved into a John Cena vs Randy Orton match.
I'm probably too cynical now, I don't trust the WWE to follow through on anything.
I think the super push of Roman Reigns will be a big one for me. They clearly love him, he's got everything Vince loves in his main eventers, including the bonus of being from wrestling family, and they are clearly gearing up to move him into the main event. If they somehow manage to screw up Roman Reigns I'll be convinced they don't know how to make new stars anymore.

He tapped out to Lesnar, and Lesnar won their feud. Just because HHH fought back and didn't get railroaded like Cena doesn't meant he didn't put him over in the end. People were whining that HHH wouldn't even be pinned by Brock. And Sheamus still didn't look bad in his match either.

All I wanted was Punk/HHH to just be a good match but unfortunately they decided to book one of the worst main events of the last 5 years.

And Sheamus still didn't look bad in his match either. Come on. HHH did more damage to Brock's drawing power and aura than just about anything. He sucked the specialness right out of the character. Like he kind of does to everything he touches. I can't remember the last time the addition of HHH made anything better. Maybe vs. Batista, but that was almost 9 years ago.

I'd say Team Hell No. I remember a lot of people being upset and saying that it was sticking Bryan in a bad situation with the comedy skits and saying it was gonna be another in a long series of bad angles for Kane, but both guys made chicken salad out of that and that team was arguably one of the great highlights for WWE over the past 2 years and they proved to be pretty pivotal in regards to getting The Shield over.

Heck, you can also add in the YES! chants to this. Some people still argue he's only over because of them, which is malarkey.
